This is my farewell to you all! Tomorrow there will be just one session again. This will take place in the morning from 9am (CET) and will last three hours. We'll also be covering it again in the live ticker!

Müller, Barnard, Evans and Wehrlein finished behind Ticktum. Cassidy, Dennis, Günther, Vergne and Marti complete the top 10, with the two Nissan drivers trailing far behind in last place.

Dan Ticktum wins the afternoon session in Valencia, but his 1:21.746 is not enough for the fastest time of the day, which Mortara still holds. In the final phase, only Barnard and Wehrlein make a leap forward. Both just manage a 1:21 time.

All drivers except Marti are on the track. There are less than five minutes to go. Dan Ticktum is still fastest ahead of Müller and Evans. There was a brief yellow flag, but this was quickly cleared up.

Taylor Barnard improves to 4th place. But his 1:22.040 is also just short of the 1:21 time.

Only the first three drivers have managed a 1:21 time so far. The next six drivers are all within two tenths of the low 1:22s.

The two Nissans are unusually slow today. In the race they stopped the cars early, in the morning Rowland stopped on the track with technical problems and now they are two seconds slower than the rest of the field. Their training programme seems to be very different from that of the other teams.

Dan Ticktum is chasing further improvements. So far it has been enough for another five hundredths.

Dan Ticktum tops the timesheets! Cupra Kiro now leads the afternoon test. The intermediate standings with less than 30 minutes remaining:

Dan Ticktum - 1:21.805
Nico Müller - 1:21.927
Mitch Evans - 1:21.980
Nick Cassidy - 1:22.042
Maximilian Günther - 1:22.088

Track record - 1:21.493 (Mortara)

Nico Müller sets a new best time! He beats Evans by five hundredths. The fastest time is now 1:21.927.

Nick Cassidy is closing in on Evans' best time. The two are still separated by six hundredths and the New Zealander is the fastest rider in the second sector.

Nick Cassidy achieved third place with a 1:22.128. For comparison: The best time in the morning was a 1:21.493 by Mortara. The Swiss himself is currently more than a second slower than in the morning.

Zane Maloney lined up in third place behind Marti. He was the fastest in the first sector, but lost almost three tenths in the final sector.

Marti can also make a leap forward. The rookie from Cupra Kiro, who replaces David Beckmann, is the new runner-up.

The track is gradually filling up. Cassidy, Dennis, Marti and both Lola Yamaha Abt leave the pit lane. Evans now clearly sets the fastest time His 1:21.980 is significantly faster than DS Penske's times, but still slow compared to this morning.

Nissan is also back in the pit lane. Evans had the race track to himself. At least for a few laps, because now Vergne is back out in the Citroen.

DS Penske drives back into the pit lane. Instead, Mitch Evans is now on his outlap.

Taylor Barnard sets the new fastest time! His 1:22.553 is faster than the laps in the race, but still slow compared to the morning. Maximilian Günther can now beat him by one and a half tenths!

Maximilian Günther sets a new fastest first sector, but then aborts his lap. Alongside Nato, Rowland also completes his laps again. DS Penske and Nissan are the only teams on the track.

Another driver, Norman Nato, took to the track, having parked the car early in the test race.

At the moment, only the two DS Penske cars are on the track. They have not set any notable times so far.

Günther is the first to take to the track! He had parked the car early in the race.

The drivers are still relaxing. So far, no one has returned to the track.

At the moment, all the cars are in the pit lane, but the track has been reopened. There will now be another normal practice session until 5pm. Mortara now leads the timesheets again, as he set the fastest lap in the race. However, his 1:22.627 will not last long.

But as the "race" was not yet curious enough, Mortara is stripped of his victory! The Swiss driver has not taken a drive-through penalty and is classified twelfth. Now Müller wins ahead of De Vries and Dennis has to settle for third place once again.

Mortara wins the test race in Valencia! Nico Müller finishes second and De Vries takes third place. Once again, Mahindra is well up the field. Did not finish the race: Cassidy, Barnard, Günther, Rowland, Nato and Felix da Costa.

Mortara pulls away a little and sets the new fastest race lap. His 1:22.580 is still two seconds off the pace set in practice. But everyone is getting faster now.

The race continues! There are two additional laps. That leaves four to go. Mortara leads ahead of Evans and Buemi.

Taylor Barnard also drives into the pit lane and parks the car like team-mate Günther. He was previously in third place, a position inherited by Sebastien Buemi.

The two Nissans have already been pushed back into the pits. We are now on lap 23 of 27, still behind the safety car.

Günther, Rowland, Nato and Da Costa have not returned to the track so far. Now another safety car is coming out.

All drivers have now completed their pit stop. Marti also had to serve a stop & go penalty.

The remaining drivers who have not yet completed a pit boost drive into the pit lane. Edoardo Mortara takes the lead ahead of Eriksson and Müller.

It's green again! Pascal Wehrlein leads the other drivers on lap 18.

With the safety car behind them, the drivers set off again.

The drivers who have already completed a pit boost are on the track. When the red flag came out, the other drivers had to drive one more lap on the track, which was cancelled. Now everything from 9th place onwards lines up again and the race is about to start from the pit lane.

The red flag continues to fly. Nevertheless, the drivers from 9th to 20th place are on their outlap and driving at a snail's pace.

All drivers from 9th place onwards should now drive to the pit exit.

I don't know whether this is a scheduled red flag. There is still a standstill.

Maximilian Günther has set the fastest race lap so far. His 1:24.323 is as expected, but a far cry from the other times we have already seen in the other sessions.

Now Rowland is also in the pit lane.

All the drivers except Oliver Rowland are back in the pit lane. We were on lap 17 of 27.

It's not just Maloney. Half the field of drivers gradually come into the pit lane for the pit boost exercises. Some drivers also practise serving time penalties. Now the red flag is out!

Zane Maloney also comes into the pit lane. The reason is still unknown to me. The positions at the front are unchanged with Müller in the lead.

Pepe Marti's pit stop was captured by our colleague Tobi Wirtz in Valencia

.

The race is reopened. Maximilian Günther drops back a long way. A moment ago he was in the top 10, now he's only 17th! Müller leads again.

De Vries' lead did not last long. Felix da Costa is now first and Müller is behind him. A full-course yellow phase now follows.

Meanwhile, De Vries takes the lead. Both Jaguars line up behind him. We are on lap 10 of 27.

The wing damage forces the rookie to make a pit stop, where he gets a new nose. He can therefore continue, but is more than a lap down.

Some teams are coming together. Both Jaguars, Porsche, Lola Yamaha Abt and Nissan now drive one behind the other. Nissan has dropped back unusually far at the start and is running far behind the field. Pepe Marti probably collides with the wall in the final chicane. His wing is damaged!

We are now in the fifth lap of the race, after four laps behind the safety car. Müller has dropped back to fourth place and Evans is now setting the pace, followed by De Vries and Felix da Costa.

The safety car has turned into the pit lane. The race is open again! All drivers start the rolling start without any difficulties. There are no position changes.

Apart from Nissan, all the drivers have had a burnout. The top five drivers at the moment are Müller, Evans, De Vries, Da Costa and Günther. The safety car will now come onto the track as planned and then a rolling start behind the safety car will be rehearsed shortly.

The start is organised according to the starting rows. Only two cars will start at a time. Nico Müller will start from 1st and 2nd place together with Evans, contrary to what the timing board previously showed! Green flag!

We are not expecting an exciting race like on a normal race weekend. Today is much more about testing the processes and technology in racing. We probably won't see any contested overtaking manoeuvres and risk-taking.

Another small correction: Instead of 24 laps as mentioned earlier, there will be 27 laps. The drivers are now allowed to drive onto the grid. The race will then open at 14:10 (CET).

Oliver Rowland will start the race from pole position with his number 1 car. Lucas di Grassi and Antonio Felix da Costa will follow, as will both Envision. Pascal Wehrlein will start from last on the grid with the number 94.

Welcome back to the live ticker! The three-hour afternoon session begins in less than 10 minutes. This time, a 24-lap test race awaits us in the first hour before the normal practice session begins at 3pm.
