The Capo Teulada military training area on the Italian Mediterranean island of Sardinia was added to the Extreme E calendar for the first time in 2021. Previously, the series canceled events planned in South America due to entry restrictions imposed in the coronavirus pandemic.
The track in the southwest of the island is within sight of the Mediterranean Sea. With the "Island X Prix", Extreme E wants to draw attention to the consequences of global warming, extreme weather and forest fires, as well as to the importance of blue and green carbon stores.
