In terms of location, the city of Punta del Este is one of the most impressive tracks on the Extreme E racing calendar. Formula E once raced on a winding downtown circuit in the seaside town on the Atlantic coast. In 2022, its off-road sister series will hold an X Prix on a field just outside the city limits.
Punta del Este is also known as the "Monaco of South America" because the small town (population just over 10,000) has increasingly become a center of attraction for South American celebrities in recent years. The town's landmark is the stone sculpture "Los Dedos" (the fingers) - a hand a good five meters wide and three meters high that rises from the beach.
