Laia Sanz actually comes from motorcycle racing. She is a five-time world champion in enduro racing and a nine-time winner of the Dakar Rally in the women's classification.
In 2021, she raced in Extreme E for the first time on a full-time contract in a four-wheel racing series, after which she also moved to a car class in the Dakar Rally. In 2023, she will contest her third Extreme E season with the Spanish team Acciona Sainz.
