Heikki Kovalainen made it to Formula 1 via the GP2 runner-up title in 2005, where he drove for Renault, McLaren, Caterham and Lotus between 2007 and 2013. He scored his only victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix in 2008. The Finn was later also successful in Japanese Super GT. Here he won the title in the GT 500 class in 2016.
In Extreme E, Kovalainen drove for JBXE once in 2023 - curiously, the team of the driver who replaced him in the Formula 1 cockpit at McLaren in 2010, Jenson Button.
