Misano confirmed, Portland to be a double-header: Formula E finalizes race calendar 2024 with 17 races

On Wednesday evening, Formula E finalized its race calendar for the upcoming 2024 season - the biggest in its history to date. In season 10, 17 races will be held for the first time. Compared to the previous version, the USA event in Portland has been expanded into a "double-header". The previously vacant slot for another double-header in Italy went (as reported) to the permanent race track in Misano.

The announcement by Formula E followed the decision by the FIA World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) to approve the race calendar for 2024 in the proposed form. With 17 races, it is the most extensive calendar in the history of the electric series. The previous record was 16 races.

With an additional race in Portland, Formula E aims to expand its presence in the important US market after last year's debut race was sold out, according to Formula E. With the addition of Misano, fans will see three new cities on the race calendar next year, after Shanghai and Tokyo were previously unveiled as new venues.

7 out of 17 races on permanent race tracks

Following the season opener in Mexico City, the electric series will travel to Hyderabad via Diriyah. After a four-week break, there are races in Sao Paulo and Tokyo before Misano kicks off the European leg with Monaco and Berlin. Formula E then travels to London for the season finale in mid-July via Shanghai and Portland.

With Misano and Shanghai, two more permanent race tracks will be added to the calendar, which are also used by MotoGP and Formula 1 respectively. Together with the season opener in Mexico City and the two races in Portland, the racing Formula E will therefore hold seven rounds on permanent circuits in 2024.

In contrast, the new race in the Japanese capital Tokyo will take place on a street circuit in the area of the "Big Sight" exhibition center.
