The Berlin E-Prix can be considered a success in terms of spectator interest. According to information from 'e-formula.news', a total of just under 34,000 people visited the Formula E races in Tempelhof. An upward trend can also be observed in the ratings on German television.
That there was a lot going on at the former Tempelhof airport site has already been confirmed by a walk through the Fan Village. We met some readers and received in several conversations a similar feedback from the fans: "Exhibitions from the side of the manufacturers were already times clearly more - that is missing a bit. But from the spectators it was already very full," said a long-time visitor of the Berlin E-Prix.

This impression was also confirmed to us by Formula E. Upon request, we were informed that on both days together just under 34,000 visitors had visited the Berlin E-Prix. A clear success, after the organizer had expected "up to 28,000" fans in advance. There were 8,100 seats available in the grandstands. In the VIP hospitality, Formula E welcomed another 1,000 guests, according to its own information. Accordingly, around 16,000 people must have come to the Fan Village, which would be about 6,000 more than planned. Leave us gladly times a comment under this article there, as you experienced the event on site.
"It was great to welcome a full house of German fans again," a Formula E spokesperson told 'e-formula.news'. "We are delighted that the enthusiastic Berlin crowd gave us such a warm welcome, and we are already looking forward to returning next year. With over 360 overtaking maneuvers in 83 race laps - including 190 maneuvers and 20 lead changes on Saturday alone, a record for Formula E - we saw an entertaining racing spectacle on both days. The 2023 SABIC Berlin E-Prix was a great success for us."
ProSieben confirms slight upward trend
In the TV broadcast, ProSieben continued its cautious upward trend. Due to the nice weather on Saturday, the absolute numbers were manageable, although slightly improved compared to the previous E-Prix. A total of 670,000 people tuned in to the ran broadcast. At peak times, there were 360,000 fans, with an average of 280,000. The market share in the advertising-relevant target group, however, was very good at 7.4 percent. In the overall television market, Formula E reached 3.1 percent of all viewers.
On race Sunday, the ratings went up again - also due to rainy weather - with a total of 940,000 viewers:inside tuning in. At peak times, 480,000 fans watched at the same time, while the average was 370,000. The market shares did not quite reach the previous day: 3.2 percent in the entire market, 5.4 percent in the target group.
Formula E ratings & market shares on Sat.1 & ProSieben
Due to the decent Berlin weekend, ProSieben is now slightly above last year's season average - at least in terms of absolute reach (viewer average currently: 401,250). In terms of market shares, the station has not yet reached the 2022 figures. After a strong start to the season in Mexico, ratings initially slumped. Since then, however, things have been steadily climbing again, albeit in small steps.
The next Formula E race will take place the weekend after next in Monaco. We are curious to see whether ProSieben can maintain its current momentum and what is still possible in the second half of the 2023 season.
