As with every Formula E race, the race stewards of the FIA will once again be tasked with checking compliance with the Technical and Sporting Regulations in the new season. In the event of an offence, they must decide on the penalty. As usual, you will find a list of all decisions made by the Formula E race stewards in this article.

Felipe Maluhy, Matthias Heinz and Achim Loth will take on this task at the 2024 Sao Paulo E-Prix. They will be supported by former racing driver Pedro Couceiro. The Portuguese driver can look back on a 20-year career as a professional racing driver and was active as a safety car driver in the World Endurance Championship WEC after his career ended. As usual, you will find a list of all the race stewards' decisions below.

Penalties in free practice

  • Taylor Barnard received a fine of 1,000 euros for exceeding the maximum permitted power in the first free practice session. As a rule, this is not due to any fault on the part of the driver; instead, the cause is often incorrectly configured software.
  • His team-mate Sam Bird was also fined 1,000 euros for the same reason.
  • Stoffel Vandoorne was fined 1,500 euros for overcharging the battery on his Maserati before the first free practice session. The reason for this is presumably the fact that the Belgian received a new battery on his car after the shakedown.
  • Edoardo Mortara was fined 1,000 euros because the system on his Mahindra to identify which tyre was mounted on which corner of the car was not configured correctly. The FIA was therefore unable to determine which tyres were fitted.
  • Nyck de Vries was fined 1,000 euros because the regen of the rear powertrain was over the regulatory limit in FP2.
  • Norman Nato also received a fine of 1,000 euros. Too much energy was drawn from the battery in the Frenchman's Nissan.

Penalties during the race

  • Edoardo Mortara received a warning for causing a collision with Norman Nato.
  • Norman Nato received a drive through penalty. As already in Free Practice, the car used too much energy.
  • Sam Bird received another drive through penalty. He used too much energy, too.
  • Another drive through penalty got Taylor Barnard. The third driver with Nissan powertrain used too much energy, too.
  • Stoffel Vandoorne received a warning for causing a collision with Dan Ticktum.
  • Zane Maloney also received a drive through penalty for drawing too much energy from the battery.
  • With Oliver Rowland, the fourth Nissan-powered driver also received a drive through penalty for drawing more than the maximum permitted energy from the battery.
  • Norman Nato was subsequently handed a five-second time penalty for using the wrong grid position at the standing restart following the first race interruption. This threw him back from 6th to 13th place. In addition to the drivers who finished behind him, Antonio Felix da Costa also benefited, as he was awarded the bonus point for the fastest lap in the top ten.
