At the double header in Shanghai, it is once again the task of the race stewards of the FIA to check compliance with the Technical and Sporting Regulations. If they find an offence, they must also determine the penalty. As usual, you will find a list of all the weekend's decisions in this article.

At the Shanghai E-Prix 2025, Shi Huang, Tomas Kunc and Achim Loth will take on this task. As in Tokyo, they will be supported by driver adviser Alexander Yoong. The Malaysian drove a total of 14 Formula 1 races for Minardi in 2001 and 2002 and was team-mates with Fernando Alonso and Mark Webber at the time. After his time in formula racing, he drove endurance and GT races, where he became champion in the Audi R8 LMS Cup three times in a row from 2014 to 2016.

Penalties ahead of the race weekend

  • Mitch Evans was demoted 20 positions for his next race in Tokyo because the motor control unit (MCU) on his car was changed. As he did not start in Tokyo on Sunday, the penalty applies to the first race in Shanghai.
  • Mitch Evans received a further 20-position demotion for his next race, as the gearbox on his car was also changed. This penalty also applies to the first race in Shanghai.

Penalties during Free Practice

  • Mitch Evans received a third 20-place grid penalty, because the MGU on his car was changes before FP1, too.

  • Component change number four: Mitch Evans was moved back another 20 places in the grid as the gearbox on his car was changed again. This brings his total penalty for Saturday's race to 80 positions. As he will not be able to start the race almost in full, he will have to start from the back of the grid and will also have to pit for a 10-second stop-and-go penalty at the end of lap 1.

  • DS Penske received a fine of 1,500 euros because the battery state-of-charge level on Jean-Eric Vergne's car was not within the window in which pit boost is permitted during the pit boost pit stop.
  • Lola Yahama ABT had to pay a fine of 2,500 euros because the tyres on Zane Maloney's car were under-inflated to the minimum pressure specified by tyre manufacturer Hankook.
  • Taylor Barnard, Antonio Felix da Costa and Pascal Wehrlein have been warned for being late for the drivers' briefing after the first free practice session.
  • Porsche was fined 500 euros because a mechanic worked on Antonio Felix da Costa's car without wearing the mandatory yellow armband.
  • Cupra Kiro received a fine of 5,000 euros, which was suspended until the end of the season, because a 'very very important person' was observed operating a laptop in the pit's engineering area during the first free practice session. As the stewards were unable to prove that this person was actually working there illegally, the penalty was suspended.
