Best Formula E weekend of Wehrlein's career: The e-Formula.news driver rating for the 2024 London E-Prix
Tim Neuhaus
Formula E provided its fans in London with one of the most exciting finals in its history. The three-way battle between Pascal Wehrlein, Mitch Evans and Nick Cassidy could not have been closer. While defending champion Jake Dennis had a complete failure, Porsche driver Wehrlein drove better than ever. The pressure of the season finale was clearly gnawing away at the Jaguar team, and the almost certain drivers' title was once again lost in the final races.
After each race of the 2024 Formula E season, our editors award points on a scale between 1 and 10 for all drivers. They are then sorted according to their average "rating score". The rating is based exclusively on driving performance, not the potential of the car or external circumstances.
Pascal Wehrlein | TAG Heuer Porsche | 10.0
Wehrlein got everything out of himself at the right time in London. He showed no sign of insecurity or fluttering nerves, but sneeringly demanded after the first race: "Give me more pressure!" This cool-headedness undoubtedly led him to the title in the British metropolis. A race win and a second place emphasised his almost perfect weekend in London, where the Jaguar obviously ran better.
Mitch Evans | Jaguar TCS Racing | 8.6
The season finale in the tenth edition was certainly one of the most bitter weekends in Mitch Evans' life. Once again, he narrowly missed out on the title, although this time it was his own fault. Twice he botched the activation of his attack mode in the final phase, when he already looked like the sure winner. Excluding this mistake, Evans rode two top-class races and was better than team-mate Nick Cassidy.
Sebastien Buemi | Envision Racing | 8.4
Sebastien Buemi and Robin Frijns seemingly only came to life in season 10 in the last few races. Whether it was the urge to stay in the electric racing series or not, London was the best race weekend of the season for Sebastien Buemi. With this very solid performance, the former champion finally showed his enormous ability again. Not least because of this, Jaguar won the manufacturers' championship in the end.
Flop of the E-Prix: Jake Dennis | Andretti | 1.0
What was wrong with Jake Dennis? Last season's world champion experienced not one, but two pitch-black days. His second race was short and, apart from an aggressive manoeuvre, not worth mentioning. In the first race, Dennis looked completely out of control. Everyone who got in his way was pushed off, pushed away or taken out of the race. The three time penalties (!) were mild. Team principle Roger Griffiths seemed disappointed and reported that Dennis had at least apologised to all the drivers.
