For the first time, Formula E will be organising a test session exclusively for female drivers as part of the pre-season test drives in Valencia. On 7 November from 2pm to 5pm, up to 22 female drivers will be allowed to drive the Gen3 Evo car for three hours (we reported). We will update this news ticker regularly until the Valencia test and add further female drivers in the overview below.

>>> Kiro Race Co confirms Simona de Silvestro as final driver

[10/29 | 14:00] And the last seat at the women's test in Valencia also goes to a Swiss driver: Simona de Silvestro will drive the neon yellow car from Kiro Race Co. De Silvestro is the only woman to have scored points in Formula E to date: She finished ninth for Andretti in both Long Beach and Berlin in the 2015/16 season. After her active time in the electric series, she competed in IndyCar Series, Supercars Championship and ADAC GT Masters, and was also a test and reserve driver in Formula E for Venturi and then for Porsche.

>>> Lena Bühler confirmed at Mahindra

[10/29 | 10:00] Swiss driver Lena Bühler will be testing for Mahindra in Valencia. The team made the announcement less than a week before the start of testing. The reigning F1 Academy runner-up will be the Indian/British team's only female driver in Spain. After a year in the Formula 1 feeder series for women, Bühler switched back to Formula Regional for the 2024 season, but ended the season prematurely after 12 of 20 races. Her best result was a 22nd place.

>>> Jaguar tests with Jamie Chadwick & Lilou Wadoux

[10/29 | 09:00] Jaguar Racing has announced its two female drivers less than a week before testing: The reigning world champion team will field Jamie Chadwick and Lilou Wadoux in Valencia.

Chadwick, the perennial W Series champion, will be contesting her second test for the team: She already drove for Jaguar in Marrakesh in 2020, back then in the Gen2 car. She had previously contested two tests for NIO (now Kiro Race Co) in the 2018/19 season. But she has also had the opportunity to take a seat in the Gen3 car: In Portland, she drove a few laps in the racing series' demo car. This is not Chadwick's only experience in an electric racing car: she competed for Veloce Racing in Extreme E in 2021.

Wadoux, on the other hand, comes from GT and prototype racing, where she celebrated a class win in the LMP2 class of the IMSA WaeatherTech SportsCar Championship this year. She also drives in Super GT and the GT World Challenge. She will be driving a Formula E racing car for the first time in Valencia.

>>> Miki Koyama makes test debut for Lola Yamaha ABT

[10/24 | 14:00] Japan's Miki Koyama will make her test debut in a Formula E car in Valencia. Koyama won the Japanese Formula Regional Championship in 2022 with 7 victories and 17 podiums in 17 races. She thus became the first woman to win the championship title in an FIA single-seater racing series in which men also competed. She is currently competing in the Japanese Super GT Championship and is also a development driver for Toyota Gazoo Racing, of which she is a member of the junior program.

>>> Jessica Edgar & Beitske Visser test for DS Penske

[10/23 | 17:00] The list of participants for the women's test in Valencia is slowly filling up: DS Penske will be testing in Spain with Jessica Edgar and Beitske Visser. The 19-year-old Edgar has been competing in F1 Academy, the Formula 1 junior racing series for women, since 2023. She achieved her first victory in the 2023 season finale. She is still waiting for her first podium this year. Edgar will make her Formula E debut in Valencia.

Dutchwoman Visser, on the other hand, has already been driving a Formula E car: in 2018, she took part for BMW i Andretti at the test in Diriyah and was also one of the official test and reserve drivers for the team. Although she was runner-up in the W Series in 2019 and 2022, she also raced in endurance racing, where she drove prototypes and GT cars.

>>> Nissan confirms Sophia Flörsch & Abbi Pulling

[10/22 | 09:00] Another team, Nissan, has announced its two female drivers for the test. The team will be fielding the two Alpine academy drivers Sophia Flörsch and Abbi Pulling. Flörsch has been well known since her spectacular accident at the Macau Grand Prix of Formula 3, which cost her participation in her first Formula E test in Diriyah in 2018.

Pulling is currently dominating the F1 Academy: in the ten races so far this season, the British driver has taken seven race wins and also finished on the podium in the remaining three races. As a result, she leads the overall standings by a clear margin and could secure the title early at the next race.

>>> Gabriela Jilkova & Marta Garcia test for Porsche

[10/18 | 09:00] Porsche has also announced its two female drivers for the test session in Valencia on the afternoon of 7th November: In addition to the Czech Gabriela Jilkova, who already had the opportunity to test the Porsche 99X Electric for 43 laps in Valencia last year, Marta Garcia will drive for the team. Jilkova is simulator and development driver for the Porsche team, but has otherwise mainly driven GT cars and prototypes in her motorsport career.

Garcia also has previous experience in Gen3 cars: The Spaniard contested the rookie test in Berlin in spring for ERT, the recently renamed Kiro Race Co team and is part of the ‘Iron Dames’ project, which has been supported by Porsche in the past, including in the World Endurance Championship. Last year, she also became the first champion of F1 Academy, the Formula 1 junior series for women.

>>> Maserati presents Calderon & Schreiner

[10/17 | 15:00] Maserati MSG Racing is the next team to present its two female drivers: Alongside Colombian Tatiana Calderon, German Carrie Schreiner will drive one of the two Maserati cars in Valencia. Both already have experience in Formula E, albeit in the second generation of cars: In 2018, Calderon tested for DS Techeetah in Diriyah and at the rookie test in Marrakesh in 2019. Schreiner, on the other hand, sat in the HWA Racelab car in Diriyah in 2018 as a replacement for Sophia Flörsch after Flörsch had suffered a serious accident in the F3 Macau Grand Prix shortly beforehand.

>>> Bianca Bustamante to drive the 2nd McLaren

[10/15 | 11:00] McLaren has announced Bianca Bustamante as the second driver for the women's test in Valencia. The 19-year-old from the Philippines is already part of the McLaren junior programme and actually drives in F1 Academy with McLaren branding.

>>> Envision Racing tests with Alisha Palmowski & Alice Powell

[10/11 | 16:30] Envision Racing has announced its driver pairing for the women's test in Valencia: Alongside development driver Alice Powell, Alisha Palmowski will be at the wheel of a Formula E racing car for the first time. The 18-year-old was runner-up in the British junior racing series GB4 this year. It will be Powell's fourth time driving for the team in official test sessions: the 31-year-old made her test debut at the rookie test in Marrakesh in 2020, after which she sat in the Envision car at both pre-season tests in 2021 and the rookie test in Berlin in 2024.

>>> Ella Lloyd takes the wheel for McLaren

[10/08 | 15:00] McLaren has announced its first driver for the Valencia test: 19-year-old Welshman Ella Lloyd will drive the papaya-colored customer Nissan in Spain. Lloyd drove for JHR Developments in British Formula 4 this year, where she finished on the podium four times and ended the season in 11th place. She also raced in Singapore as a guest entrant in the F1 Academy, where she finished both races in the points. Lloyd also joins the McLaren team's driver development program and will drive in F1 academy with support from McLaren in 2025.

>>> Andretti tests with Chloe Chambers & Nerea Marti

[10/07 | 15:00] Porsche customer team Andretti is the first team to announce its two female drivers: Chloe Chambers and Nerea Marti will take to the wheel for the US team. The Chinese-born American Chambers was the first woman to win a race in the Formula Regional Oceania Championship. She is currently driving in F1 Academy with the support of the Haas Formula 1 team for Campos Racing, where she is fourth in the overall standings. As Ford and Red Bull announced at the beginning of October, she will drive for the Red Bull Ford Academy Programme next year.

The Spaniard Marti also drives in the F1 Academy for Campos Racing and currently occupies fifth place in the overall standings. She also contested two race weekends in the Spanish Formula 4, having previously competed in W Series for two years, where she finished third three times in total.
