The new Citroen Racing Formula E Team unveiled its Gen3 Evo car for the 2025/26 Formula E World Championship at an event in Paris on Monday. The successor to Maserati will compete in its first season in the electric series in the colours of the French flag - red, white and blue. Even though many things are new at Citroen, including the driver duo Nick Cassidy and Jean-Eric Vergne, the team principal is an old acquaintance: Cyril Blais, previously team principal of Maserati MSG Racing.

"My aim is to consolidate the team's successes and to continue our development in the championship," says Cyril Blais, Team Principal of Citroen Racing. "The appreciation of the work and commitment of each individual team member is my top priority." Before Blais became team principal of Maserati MSG Racing, he gradually acquired more responsibility. A few years ago, he was the race engineer for Lucas di Grassi and Maximilian Günther, among others.

Livery pays homage to France

Citroen will compete in the French national colours. The colour sequence of the national flag can also be found on the car, but in reverse. The car has a very striking red front section - the brand colour of the French car manufacturer. This is followed by a transition with two white stripes, which are the double-angle chevrons that also form the Citroen logo. The colour gradient is finally finished with a metallic blue tone.

The car's wheel rims are particularly striking. They are red at the front and blue at the rear to match the livery. In addition to a pattern of arrows pointing forwards along the direct colour gradient and the inscriptions of the brand name "Citroen", the team showed a car without any other sponsors. We will see the final car at the latest at the start of the season on 6 December in Sao Paulo.

Podium places & victories are the goal

Two-time Formula E champion Vergne is proud to be competing for Citroen: "I'm hugely excited to become part of the Citroen Formula E team - an iconic and traditional French brand." DS Penske, for whom Vergne has driven for the last few years, competed under the US flag despite the DS partnership: "It is a great honour to represent my country as a French driver in this new team."

For the 35-year-old, the change of team is a small new beginning that will give him fresh motivation. That is precisely why he has set his expectations high: "This new project is a huge source of motivation for me. I have great confidence in the team and am convinced that we can fight for podium places and victories as early as next year." His ambitions clearly show that he is planning a few more years in Formula E: "We want to make the Citroen Racing Formula E team one of the most successful teams in the next generation of Formula E."

Vergne's new team-mate Cassidy, who also switched to Citroen after finishing runner-up in last year's world championship, says: "I am also very much looking forward to working with Jean-Éric Vergne, the only two-time Formula E champion." He expects to lay the necessary foundations for the upcoming generation change: "I am bringing all my experience to achieve strong results in season 12 - and to help establish Citroen as the top team of the future in Formula E."

The Citroen Racing team will bring a breath of fresh air to Formula E from 27 October, when the tests in Valencia are scheduled.
