The season opener of the twelfth Formula E season is over. As in the previous year, Brazil's Sao Paulo offered a firework display of chaos and excitement. Andretti driver Jake Dennis shone with perfection in the race and also in our driver ratings! For Lola Yamaha ABT and especially for Brazilian Lucas di Grassi, the E-Prix was above all a cause for concern.

After each round of the Formula E Season 12, our editors award points on a scale between 1 and 10 for all drivers. They are then sorted according to their average "rating score". The rating is based exclusively on driving performance, not the potential of the car or external circumstances.

Jake Dennis | Andretti | 10

In qualifying, the former world champion made it into the final, where he narrowly lost out to Pascal Wehrlein. Thanks to the German's penalty, however, he was still allowed to start from first position.

In the race, Dennis made optimum strategic use of attack mode, allowing the Briton to battle for the top positions throughout the race. He took the lead in the final laps and drove to a dominant victory - his first ever from grid position 1 in Sao Paulo. A flawless performance!

Pascal Wehrlein | Porsche | 8.4

No one was faster than Wehrlein in Sao Paulo. For the third time in a row, the Porsche driver beat all the other drivers in qualifying. Due to a three-place grid penalty, Wehrlein was only allowed to start the race from fourth on the grid, but delivered a very solid performance.

He was not involved in any of the many skirmishes and always kept the car in the leading group. Only bad luck with a safety car phase during his second attack mode meant he only managed fourth place in the end, but he still scored important points.

Dan Ticktum | Cupra Kiro | 8.3

Cupra Kiro left Brazil without a single point. While Marti's mistake on one side of the garage cost important points, it was a huge amount of bad luck for Dan Ticktum. In qualifying, the Brit secured a place on row 1 alongside Dennis and showed that he can continue his strong form from last season.

In the race, he suffered a puncture through no fault of his own and then received a drive-through penalty at the fault of his team. In the end, he parked his car, but you can't really blame him for that.

Flop of the E-Prix: Lucas di Grassi | Lola Yamaha ABT | 2.1

For Lucas di Grassi, his home race was once again not a perfect start - in fact, it was a major disaster. The Brazilian had technical problems in free practice, the drive shaft failed in qualifying and the pace of the Lola Yamaha ABT was barely competitive.

In the race, the veteran ended his drive prematurely with an overly harsh manoeuvre against Edoardo Mortara, which also earned him a demotion for the race in Mexico. The prospects for the remainder of the season are diminished, the overall package from Lola Yamaha ABT has so far been unable to keep up with the competition.
