On Monday, DS Penske was the first team to present its livery for the tenth Formula E season. The team of Stoffel Vandoorne and Jean-Eric Vergne will also compete in gold and black next season. Sean Bull is once again responsible for the design.

"Hungry for more gold" - this is the slogan the team uses to promote its new livery. And this seems to be true in the first pictures of the vehicle: The gold and black surfaces have been swapped over large parts of the vehicle. The previously black Halo, which is intended to protect the driver's head in the event of an accident, is also in gold. In contrast to the design for the 2023 season, the diamond shape of the gold paintwork is also continued on the sidepods of the car. In the past season, these were still completely black.

“It's a clear and dramatic evolution on last year’s design,” says designer Sean Bull. “We wanted to make the lines of the car fit even better with the exciting shapes of the Gen3. We're extremely proud of this design and the combination of working closely with the team and DS Automobiles, we believe we have improved upon perfection.”

Jay Penske: "Livery & Team get better every year"

"The new livery launch kicks off the start of the season and ignites everyone’s passion and desire to go out and give 110%," adds team boss Jay Penske. "I think this design, like the team is a great example of how we never stop moving forward, we never settle. It would be easy to run the same livery as we did in Season 9, but that’s not our approach and never has been. The livery like the team gets better every year."

"As always, the livery reveal is a very exciting moment because it represents the official start of a new adventure, new challenge, and new season," says Eugenio Franzetti, Director of DS Performance. "So, we start Season 10 with a new DS E-TENSE FE23 that's even more beautiful than last year’s car."

"And it’s more visible as well as beautiful, because that's what motorsport is all about," Franzetti continues. "We're here to give visibility to our brand, DS Automobiles, our partner Penske Autosport, and of course all our sponsors. We’re also working hard to ensure that the DS E-TENSE FE23 goes as well as it looks. The powertrain will be the same as for Season 9, as there is no homologation change this year, but a lot of other work has been done and we will continue to improve the management software. We have big dreams of big success : that’s our goal for Season 10!"

Ever since its time with Techeetah, French car manufacturer DS Automobiles has used the gold and black colour scheme on its cars, which was initially used by the Techeetah team. However, the Chinese team raced with Renault customer engines in the Gen1 era, while DS partnered Virgin Racing, the predecessor of Envision Racing.

The team had already unveiled its driver line-up for 2024 about two weeks earlier. Both former champions Stoffel Vandoorne and Jean-Eric Vergne extended their contracts. While Vergne finished the 2023 season in fifth place overall with one win this season, Vandoorne finished 11th in the standings with a fourth place as his best result.

The car will be seen on track for the first time during official pre-season testing in Valencia, Spain, from 23 to 27 October. The first race of the season will be held in Mexico City on 13 January 2024.
