The results of the e-Formula.news Season Awards 2024/25 are in! The newly crowned Formula E champion Oliver Rowland won gold in four categories this year and also the most medals overall (6). Second was Pascal Wehrlein, who won three medals, including one gold, ahead of Nick Cassidy, who also collected three medals. Category wins also went to Felipe Drugovich, Mitch Evans and Max Günther. Team of the Year was world champion TAG Heuer Porsche.

As in the previous year, the evaluation was based in part on facts and statistics that we collected over the course of the season. In addition, there was once again a public vote in which more than 120 international Formula E fans took part. The more heavily weighted result of the survey was combined with the votes of a nine-member jury of experts for the analysis. Thank you for taking part - here are the results!

Driver of the Year

Like the world championship, this category had already been decided before the season finale. As in the previous year, victory went to Oliver Rowland! Over the course of the season, the Nissan driver achieved the highest average score of all Formula E drivers with a score of 7.55 (our team grades all drivers after each race). Pascal Wehrlein finished in second place with an average of 7.36, ahead of Jake Dennis (7.16).

Team of the Year

Team of the Year is TAG Heuer Porsche. Although Pascal Wehrlein missed out on defending his drivers' title, both the teams' and the new manufacturers' world championships went to Porsche. With more than 40 per cent of the votes, the team was clearly ahead in our online poll. Silver went slightly surprisingly to Mahindra Racing, who achieved 12.4 per cent of the votes cast. Bronze went to defending champion Jaguar TCS Racing.

Qualifying king of the year

The best driver in qualifying this year was once again Pascal Wehrlein with an average starting position of 5.3, putting Wehrlein ahead of Oliver Rowland, who came second with an average starting position of 6.6. Bronze went to Nyck de Vries (7.1).

Racer of the Year

In the Racer of the Year category, Oliver Rowland once again came out on top. With an average race result of 7.3, he took gold by a narrow margin from Pascal Wehrlein (7.8). Bronze went to Nick Cassidy (8.2).

Mr. Consistency

In terms of consistency, there were three drivers who finished in the top 10 eleven times in 16 races this season. Therefore, the individual positions in the points were decisive in this category. Oliver Rowland was once again in front, beating Antonio Felix da Costa and Jean-Eric Vergne.

Rookie of the Year

There were only two genuine Formula E rookies in the 2024-25 season. David Beckmann (2023 for Andretti) and Taylor Barnard (2024 for McLaren) were regular drivers for the first time, but had already driven in Formula E races before - Barnard was even named Rookie of the Year last year, although he only drove three races.

This year, the title also went to a replacement driver: Felipe Drugovich was the best rookie of the past season, both for the fans in the voting and for the jury. The Brazilian stood in for Nyck de Vries at the Berlin E-Prix and secured six championship points with seventh place in the race on Sunday. Zane Maloney, on the other hand, scored no points last season, although he contested all 16 races as a regular driver for Lola Yamaha ABT. Nevertheless, he won silver in this category. Bronze was not awarded as there were only two rookies.

Leader of the Year

In this category, we look at the lead laps accumulated by the drivers in the 2024-25 season. The clear winner of the gold medal was Oliver Rowland with 119 lead laps. Silver went to Nick Cassidy, who led the field for a total of 92 laps. His team-mate Mitch Evans took bronze (66 laps).

Recovery drive of the Year

The most positions gained in a race was achieved by Mitch Evans at the season opener: From 22nd on the grid, the New Zealander won. An almost perfect result that was only marred by Robin Frijns: the Dutchman did not even start the race, meaning that Evans actually only made up 20 positions. Silver and bronze went to Nick Cassidy (Berlin 2/2) and Dan Ticktum (Shanghai 1/2), who gained 19 and 17 places respectively in one race.

Overtake of the Year

Max Günther performed the overtake of the year in the first race of the Jeddah E-Prix. On the last lap of the race, he passed race leader Oliver Rowland before the final chicane to spectacularly secure his first race win for DS Penske. The manoeuvre for silver was also by a Penske driver in the last chicane of the final lap: Jean-Eric Vergne passed Dan Ticktum and Taylor Barnard in Shanghai to complete the first one-two victory for DS Penske in Formula E. World champion Oliver Rowland secured the bronze medal in Berlin with a successful attack on Robin Frijns and Mitch Evans.

Race of the Year

In terms of entertainment value, our readers were extremely divided this season: no race scored more than 14.0 per cent in our poll, so the votes of our experts were the deciding factor. The result: The best race overall was the Pit Boost premiere in Jeddah (Friday), which clearly deserved first place from the experts' point of view, but was not at the top of our readers' favourites. The Sao Paulo E-Prix, on the other hand, was much better received by them and got the most votes in the poll, which in the end was enough for the silver medal due to the close result. The Sunday race at the Monaco E-Prix took bronze.

Livery of the year

Porsche presented the best car livery this year: the Germans changed their colour scheme before the start of the season and were out and about in a striking purple colour that impressed more than 33 percent of our readers. DS Penske won silver with its black and gold look, after a similar design had already been used as a special livery at the Monaco E-Prix the previous year and was also awarded the silver medal at the end of the season. In the opinion of many fans, the two Nissan cars at the season finale in London had the most beautiful special livery: third place and therefore bronze for the light blue look inspired by the new Nissan Leaf.
