Facts & figures: The best statistics on the 2024 Formula E season

The 2024 Formula E World Championship came to an end around a fortnight ago with a double header in London. With Pascal Wehrlein and Jaguar TCS Racing, there were new title winners in both the drivers' and teams' championships.

The 16 Formula E races of the 2024 season were extremely varied: eight different drivers secured at least one race win each, and there were just as many different pole-sitters. 14 different drivers stood on the podium, and the same number of drivers started from the front row of the grid. All 22 regular drivers made it into the duel phase of qualifying, 17 of them led a race at least once, and all regular drivers scored points, as did two reserve drivers, Taylor Barnard and Joel Eriksson.

How did the teams perform compared to the previous season?

There were no major changes to the teams on the Formula E grid in 2020: all eleven teams from the previous season were on the grid. The customer teams Envision and Andretti as well as Maserati MSG - strictly speaking also a customer team - scored significantly fewer points than in 2023, while the works teams (Porsche, Jaguar, Nissan) recorded a significant increase in points. In percentage terms, the biggest increase was recorded by ABT Cupra, which almost tripled its result from the previous season.

How did the Teams' World Championship battle develop?

Porsche, who had started the season in the lead after Wehrlein's victory in Mexico City, were only in fourth place after the first Misano race. However, by the Monaco E-Prix at the latest, the world championship battle had become a pure duel: Jaguar and Porsche clearly pulled away from their rivals from the middle of the season onwards.

Also from Monaco onwards, it became clear that there would be a three-way battle for third place in the championship, with the happier ending for DS Penske. However, the US team benefited from the fact that Andretti and Nissan scored hardly any points in the final third of the season. Only Oliver Rowland's victory in the season finale ensured that Nissan was able to overtake Andretti.

Behind them, Envision Racing, the reigning team world champions, had a really bad season. Over the course of the season, Envision was miles away from third place in the championship, which the team occupied after Sebastien Buemi's podium finish at the start of the season. The team's form curve only recovered from Portland onwards, with three podiums in the last four races of the season to overtake Maserati MSG and McLaren.

A positive trend was also evident at Mahindra: After the team scored points for the first time in Berlin, they passed ERT and even ABT Cupra after Saturday's race in London, before the German team reclaimed ninth place in the final race. ERT, on the other hand, still strong in Misano, remained without a single championship point in the second half of the season and therefore finished last by a clear margin.

Which teams could win races in 2024?

The statistics are also clear here: only five of the 16 races were not won by a Porsche or Jaguar driver. These are also the only teams in which both drivers celebrated race victories.

Which teams were allowed to take part in the award ceremonies

Jaguar and Porsche are also ahead in terms of the number of podiums in the 2024 season, having achieved almost half of the total of 48 podium places. Jaguar set a new record with 14 podiums; the previous record was 11 podiums.

ABT, ERT and Mahindra were the only teams not to achieve a podium in 2024.

Which teams were in pole position?

Seven of the eleven teams are represented in this statistic, but Jaguar and Porsche are also at the top here, although Penske also has three poles. McLaren is the only customer team to achieve more than one pole position.

ABT Cupra, Envision, ERT and Maserati MSG remained without a pole position in 2024.

How often did the teams reach the duel phase of qualifying

All eleven teams reached the duel phase of qualifying several times. We have seen Jaguar and Penske drivers in the qualifying duels most often this season: Both teams drove in the shoot-out for pole position each 21 times. But the Porsche drivers (18) were also regularly involved in the duels. Surprisingly, a Nissan driver was only in the duels seven times in total - only ERT has fewer duels - but Oliver Rowland was still on pole position twice.
