Cupra Kiro is parting ways with David Beckmann ahead of the 2025-26 Formula E season. The team announced this in a press release on Friday. The German driver was only signed by the team for the pre-season as part of the new manufacturer partnership with Porsche. Beckmann had a difficult season as a former Porsche Junior and was clearly beaten by his team-mate Dan Ticktum.

In addition to his well-deserved point in the final race of the season, Beckmann also showed his true potential time and again. However, a single point, while his team-mate scored a race win in Jakarta and 85 points, was not enough to convince Cupra Kiro of his worth.

The team is on the upswing and the driver market offers a number of alternatives with Formula E experience in addition to up-and-coming talent, partly due to the withdrawal of McLaren. A fact that certainly contributed to the decision regarding Beckmann.

Cupra Kiro thanks Beckmann

So Beckmann and Cupra Kiro have mutually decided to go their separate ways. Team boss Alex Hui has kind words for the young German driver: "I would like to thank David sincerely for his contributions. While being a rookie driver in Formula E is never easy, David rose to the challenge at every stage with dedication, professionalism, and enthusiasm."

He looks back fondly on the year with Beckmann as a regular driver and hopes for a great future: "It has been a pleasure to watch him grow. I know I can speak on behalf of many when I say that I'm excited to see what David does next, and I'm confident that he has a very bright future in motorsport."

As Cupra Kiro is the only team that has not yet announced its driver pairing, Beckmann will definitely not be a regular driver in season 12. Should Beckmann wish to remain in Formula E, it would most likely be as a test and reserve driver for another team.

We will therefore not see him in a Formula E car at the pre-season tests in Valencia, which will take place from 27 October.
