Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds donates 250,000 dollars after betting on Max Verstappen's Formula 1 title

In February of this year, Jeff Dodds conducted a curious interview with TNT Sports. The conversation centred on Max Verstappen - the Formula E CEO was certain that the Dutchman would also win the Formula 1 title in 2024. So sure, in fact, that he offered 250,000 US dollars for a good cause if another driver became world champion. Dodds was proved right, but the money is now going to a good cause anyway.

Today, Formula E published an exchange between Max Verstappen and Jeff Dodds on social media. "I thought we should do something good with that money. So, if you're up for it, I think maybe we split it. You give half of the quarter of a million to a charity or a foudation that you care deeply about. And I'll do the same," Dodds told Verstappen in a video call.

Wings for Life and More than Equal benefit

Max Verstappen didn't have to think twice: "For me, I think, what is closest to me is Wings for Life. I think that would be a good shout." Wings for Life is a charitable foundation for spinal cord research that is working on a cure for paraplegia. Jeff Dodds is donating his half of the sum to More than Equal. The aim of More than Equal is to find the first female Formula 1 world champion and to do what is necessary to make it more attractive for women to enter motorsport.

At the same time, the Formula E CEO announces that the racing series is entering into a partnership with More than Equal. Max Verstappen agrees with Dodds: "To support any kind of motorsport and young talent is amazing." Formula E has already played a pioneering role with the women's test in Madrid. With the Gen4 cars, power steering is also set to further equalise the entry barrier to Formula E in 2026.

First of all, however, the developments of the Gen3 Evo must be fully utilised. The eleventh Formula E season will continue on 11 January in Mexico. Verstappen is also looking forward to it: "I'll be watching the (Formula E) championship during my time off!"
