Formula E will release the second season of its documentary series "Formula E: Driver" on Prime Video on 28 November. The new episodes provide exclusive behind-the-scenes insights into the last season of Pascal Wehrlein, Antonio Felix da Costa, Dan Ticktum, Oliver Rowland and Taylor Barnard.
As the 12th season is about to begin, Formula E is once again looking back on its past season in the form of a new season of its own documentary series "Formula E: Driver". In the first season, which was released at the beginning of May 2025, drivers Mitch Evans, Jake Dennis, Antonio Felix da Costa and Dan Ticktum were accompanied by the Astronaut Films camera team during the tenth Formula E season. Viewers were offered private insights into the lives of the drivers and a look behind the scenes at the race track.
This will be continued in the upcoming four-part series, albeit with a slightly different cast: Ticktum and Felix da Costa will be back again this time, but they will be joined by season 11 rookie Taylor Barnard, newly crowned world champion Oliver Rowland and the driver who knocked Rowland off the throne with his victory, Pascal Wehrlein. The series sheds light on team dynamics, internal tensions, tough setbacks, but also emotional moments of success.
Wehrlein: "Shows the intensity of the championship like never before"
"We wanted to put viewers right into the heart of the garages - closer to the action and closer to the drivers than ever before", explains Jon Alwen, Executive Producer of "Formula E: Driver" and CEO of Astronaut Films. "A lot of sports documentaries now seem too slick or semi-staged - Formula E: Driver is the opposite. Our cameras were there to capture real drama in real time, and this season has delivered more than we could have imagined. From outstanding rookies to fierce rivalries and a remarkable rise to the absolute top, this season has it all."
Porsche driver Pascal Wehrlein sees taking part in the series as an opportunity to give fans more insight into the world of Formula E and its drivers than they would otherwise get to see. The German describes filming as "a great experience. I was able to show the fans what happens beyond the visor - moments that don't always end up on TV. This season shows the intensity of the championship like never before."
Barnard: "An incredibly cool opportunity for fans"
Young Brit Taylor Barnard is delighted to have been part of the production: "Formula E: Driver is an incredibly cool opportunity for fans to see what life in this championship is really like."
The 21-year-old had an impressive rookie season with his former team McLaren, claiming numerous podiums and eventually finishing fourth in the world championship. "Season 11 was huge for me," describes Barnard. "A chance to learn, grow and prove myself against some of the best drivers in the world. The series shows intensity, rivalry and passion behind every lap. I can't wait for the fans to see it"
The episodes about the previous season will be available on Prime Video from Friday 28 November.
