Formula E in Berlin: Mitch Evans fastest in 3rd free practice in the rain at Tempelhof

Mitch Evans finished the 3rd free practice session of Formula E in Berlin as the fastest. On a wet track, the Jaguar driver set a fastest time at the end of the session, beating Andre Lotterer by just under a tenth of a second. The session also went well for ABT Cupra and its drivers Nico Müller and Robin Frijns. Much significance had the result of the only Sunday practice, however, not.
The 3rd Free Practice began with a wet track - the first official "wet session" of the Gen3 era! Already after one minute there was the first incident: Rene Rast's McLaren had a problem already on the exit from the pit lane and rolled through turn 1 without propulsion. Then he stopped on the track for a long time and could not restart his car. Meanwhile, the other drivers were testing the grip, so there were some sliding maneuvers to watch. After the race organizers had yellow flags waving for five minutes, with some drivers already complaining, the session was interrupted with red flags.
With 22 minutes remaining on the clock, the session continued. The lap times were around twelve seconds slower than the previous day due to the wet conditions. Just before session half-time, the two Andretti's of Andre Lotterer and Jake Dennis led the timesheet. ABT Cupra also made a good impression. Nico Müller moved up to third place, Robin Frijns was initially fifth. Then the Dutchman even took the lead. Apparently, the conditions played into the team's cards.
Dan Ticktum loses his car
The track was steadily getting drier and thus a bit faster. Most teams, however, seemed to hold back - possibly because the findings would have been of little help in the wet, because according to the weather forecast, it should not rain again on Sunday. But certainly also to minimize the risk of an accident. Dan Ticktum braked in turn 10, spun a bit and slightly bumped the rear of the TecPro barrier.
Five minutes from the end, Lotterer again took over first place from Frijns, then Müller followed suit. Behind the ABT and Andretti cars were mostly the two Jaguars and Porsches. In the last minutes there were a few time improvements. Fastest of all was the previous day's winner Mitch Evans in the Jaguar with a lap time of 1:15.955 minutes. Lotterer and Ticktum finished behind him. Nevertheless, ABT can be happy about a good session and positions 4 and 6.
The qualifying of Formula E on Sunday starts as on the previous day at 10:40 a.m. ran.de broadcasts the qualifying in the livestream, e-Formel.de in the liveticker.
