Andretti driver Felipe Drugovich finished the 2nd free practice session in Madrid as the fastest. The Brazilian relegated Jean-Eric Vergne (Citroen) and Norman Nato (Nissan) to the next places. Several drivers hit the gravel in the wet practice session, but otherwise the session went off without any major incidents.

Formula E's second free practice session in Madrid got underway in wet conditions. Although the rain had stopped by the start of the session, the track was still wet when the drivers took to the track on time. It was still very slippery, especially at the start. After six minutes of driving, Jake Dennis made a small excursion into the gravel in turn 1, where his compatriot Dan Ticktum had also come off the track yesterday.

Oliver Rowland took the lead shortly afterwards with a lap time of 1:44.846 minutes, but was beaten a few minutes later by Nico Müller in the Porsche, who drove three seconds faster than Rowland in attack mode. He was followed by his team-mate Wehrlein with Attack Mode activation, who took the lead from his team-mate with a lap time of 1:41.099 minutes.

Multiple drivers in the gravel

After 15 minutes of driving, Antonio Felix da Costa took the lead with a lap time 0.464 seconds faster than his former Porsche team-mate. The track gradually dried off and Zane Maloney was able to improve his time significantly. Shortly afterwards, Lola team-mate Lucas di Grassi came off the track slightly in turn 1.

With 20 minutes to go, most of the drivers were back in their garages, with di Grassi the only one still on track, but he also returned to his garage a few minutes later.

The track continued to dry off, but Nyck de Vries' rear end still broke out in turn 4 due to the wet conditions - it was still enough for the Dutchman to move up to third position. Edoardo Mortara took the lead a few seconds later with a time of 1:39.912 minutes.

Dan Ticktum had another excursion into the gravel run-off area of the first corner, where he had already come off the track during the first free practice session. Shortly afterwards, he improved his time and found himself in second position.

Strong improvements towards the end of the session

Just before the end of the session, many drivers improved their times: de Vries set a lap time of 1:38.963 minutes, making him the first to set a time under 1:39 minutes. However, he was replaced at the end by Felipe Drugovich, who finished the session fastest.

Citroen driver Vergne, who had previously complained about brake problems and was at the back of the field, also managed to improve significantly and moved up to second place. Norman Nato in the Nissan completed the top 3 of the 2nd free practice session.

Porsche drivers Müller and Wehrlein finished the session in 6th and 12th place, while Günther in the DS Penske was only able to finish 17th. Formula E continues with qualifying in Madrid at 10:40 am (CET).
