Formula E in Miami: Dan Ticktum fastest in FP1, Felix da Costa & Cassidy collide

Capra-Kiro driver Dan Ticktum finished the first free practice session in Miami as the fastest. He set a lap time of 0:55.503 minutes under overcast skies, which later turned sunny. The top three were completed by Taylor Barnard from DS Penske and Nyck de Vries from Mahindra. However, a "fight" between championship leader Nick Cassidy and Antonio Felix da Costa, in which the Portuguese suffered a puncture after contact, will be particularly remembered.
After the rookie practice session had already taken place, it was now the turn of the regular drivers. Practice started on time at 17:00 local time in initially cloudy conditions. After the obligatory "full-course yellow test", the drivers set about familiarising themselves with the conditions at the Miami International Autodrome. Right from the start, lap times of less than a minute were set.

Müller draws attention to himself
After around ten minutes, reigning world champion Oliver Rowland was at the top of the timesheets with a time of 0:55.935 minutes, before Nico Müller was able to beat this a few minutes later with 350 kW. Dan Ticktum was initially in third place. However, he was already around 1.3 seconds behind Müller.
After around 20 minutes, things quietened down again on the track. Lola Yamaha ABT driver Lucas di Grassi received a warning for driving too fast during the full-course yellow. The drivers kept pushing their times down, but Müller's best time still stood 15 minutes before the end of the session.
More and more drivers are chasing times
Ten minutes before the end of the session, Nick Cassidy, who was currently leading the championship, was still way down the table. His focus seemed to be on preparing for the race. Taylor Barnard moved into first place ahead of Müller, followed shortly afterwards by Ticktum, who improved the fastest time once again.

Towards the end, there was contact between Cassidy and Antonio Felix da Costa, who had driven side by side through several corners and collided. The Jaguar driver suffered a puncture, as he described after the session. Ticktum took the lead ahead of Barnard with a time of 0:55.503 minutes. Nyck de Vries was third ahead of Cassidy.
