The two Mahindra drivers Nyck de Vries and Edoardo Mortara finished the second free practice session fastest. Jaguar driver Mitch Evans was third ahead of Pascal Wehrlein in the Porsche. Practice was characterised by two incidents involving Maloney and Barnard.
Only 70 minutes after the end of the free practice 1 session, the 20 Formula E drivers continued with the second free practice session at the Circuit de Monaco on Saturday morning. The 30-minute session started on time at 9:10 a.m. local time on a sunny 18-degree day. All the drivers drove straight out of the garage, with only Pascal Wehrlein spending a few minutes longer with his team before taking to the track.
The fastest lap time from the first free practice was set by Nyck de Vries with a time of 1:27.050 minutes. The drivers were still a long way off that, with Oliver Rowland initially leading the field with a time of 1:29.471 minutes.
Maloney causes an interruption, Barnard also makes contact
After a few minutes, yellow flags were waved in turn 3: Zane Maloney had crashed into the wall. The Lola Yamaha ABT driver reported problems with his brakes. The short yellow phase was followed by a red flag. The damaged car was lifted off the track by a crane after the collision. It could be difficult for the Barbadian to take part in qualifying: This is already scheduled for 10:40 a.m., an hour after the scheduled end of practice.

The DS Penske driver pulled into the pits, but was able to continue after a brief interruption. Meanwhile, Edoardo Mortara improved his time and secured the position behind his Mahindra team-mate de Vries.
In the end, Mitch Evans and Pascal Wehrlein were able to improve their times and secured 3rd and 4th place. Max Günther in the DS Penske finished the session directly behind them in 5th place, while Nico Müller in the other Porsche was 8th.
The 20 Formula E drivers will continue with qualifying for the first race in Monaco this weekend at 10:40 am (CEST).
