ITV and Formula E announced a new free-to-air TV broadcasting deal for the UK and Ireland on Wednesday, extending the partnership that has been in place since December 2024 for a further two years until 2027. ITV will therefore broadcast all qualifying sessions and races of the electric series in seasons 12 and 13.
All qualifying sessions will be broadcast live on ITVX, while the 18 races will be broadcast either on ITV4 with a simulcast on ITVX or exclusively on ITVX. A highlights show will air on ITV4 the week after each race. ITV will also be the home of the highly anticipated debut of the Gen4 car in the 2026-27 season.
The season kicks off on the vibrant streets of Sao Paulo on 6 December 2025. Highlights of the calendar include new races in Madrid and at the International Autodrome in Miami as well as the return to Berlin, Tokyo and Shanghai, where two races will be held on one weekend each. Monaco will also host two races on one weekend on the legendary street circuit. The season will end again in London with an exciting double race at the ExCeL on 15 and 16 August 2026, marking the end of the Gen3 Evo era of Formula E before the Gen4 car makes its debut at the end of 2026.
"It's an incredibly exciting time for Formula E and we are proud to continue our partnership with them for a further two years," says Richard Botchway, Deputy Head of ITV Sport. "In what is the largest season of the Formula E World Championship so far, we will continue to bring the very best action free-to-air across ITV4 and ITVX."
"Our extended partnership with ITV is fantastic news for Formula E fans across the UK and Ireland, ensuring that the thrill of the Formula E World Championship remains free and accessible to the widest possible audience," added Jonathan Salt, Vice President Media at Formula E. "With our largest calendar yet and the exciting conclusion of the Gen3 Evo era, we're looking forward to delivering incredible action to millions of homes."
The presenters, commentators and analysts for the coverage of the upcoming season will be announced shortly.
