Lola Cars has only just announced its entry into Formula E, and now comes the long-term commitment: the British company will compete in the electric racing series as a registered manufacturer until at least 2030 - i.e. throughout the entire Gen4 era. This was officially announced by Formula E on Monday afternoon. It makes Lola the fourth Gen4 manufacturer after Nissan, Jaguar and Porsche.

Lola will join Formula E next season - just in time for the introduction of the new Gen3 Evo car. In seasons 11 and 12, the manufacturer will compete together with technology partner Yamaha as the powertrain supplier of the German ABT team. Whether these parties will also work together in the Gen4 era from 2026 to 2030 remains to be seen and is also likely to depend on success.

Lola's long-term commitment to Formula E is one of several projects with which the traditional chassis manufacturer intends to return to the global stage. "We are delighted to confirm our commitment to the Gen4 era," says Lola's Head of Motorsport Mark Preston. "Formula E is an ideal platform for powertrain and software development that we can utilise for wider motorsport and automotive applications."

"We believe that the potential for innovation in this series will only increase as the performance of the cars and the technology evolves," Preston continued. "This gives us greater scope to develop innovative technologies in global motorsport and in the wider field of zero-emission transport."

Formula E CEO Dodds: "A great privilege for us"

"In addition to their historic return to top-level motorsport next year for season 11, we are delighted that Lola Cars is also committing to the Gen4 era and promising that they will be in Formula E until at least 2030," explains Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds.

"Their confidence in our series (...) is testament to our ability to attract the biggest names in motorsport and our shared ambition to develop this championship," says the Briton. "This is a great privilege for us."

Marek Nawarecki, FIA Senior Circuit Sport Director, said: "We are delighted to confirm Lola Cars as the fourth committed Formula E manufacturer for the Gen4 era. The famous brand recently announced its entry into the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship for next season. The fact that it has now also committed to the following era is testament to Lola's belief in the series' technical roadmap."
