ABT driver Nico Müller will contest his last E-Prix for the ABT Cupra team this weekend in London. An announcement was made by the team in a press release. According to media reports, Müller will compete for the Porsche customer team Andretti in the coming season and will even switch to the Porsche works team after one year.

After two seasons with the ABT team, it is time for the Swiss driver to say goodbye: After an expected 29 races, Müller will be leaving the team with which he raced in the DTM from 2016 to 2020 and finished runner-up in the championship twice. Their time together in Formula E was not quite as successful: a fourth place in Sunday's race in Misano 2024 was Müller's best result for the team from Kempten.

"This is going to be a very special weekend for me," says Nico Müller ahead of the London E-Prix. "On the one hand I’m looking forward to the location, the track and the fans. On the other hand, I feel melancholy and a lot of gratitude after two years in this team. It was an extremely challenging time, but it also brought us closer together."

"We’ve always pulled together and I’m sure this is what we will be doing in London for the last time," continued the Swiss driver. "We want to give it our all with the whole team, enjoy the days and try to get two good results. I will give everything to make the team proud again one more time."

Biermaier: "Nico remains part of the ABT family"

"It was our wish to keep Nico in the team and to be successful with him again," says Thomas Biermaier, CEO and Team Principal of ABT. "Now we have to accept his decision and wish him all the best for the future. On behalf of the whole team, I would like to thank Nico for his commitment and dedication. Of course we would all have liked to have seen more success, but even in these difficult times he has always led the way and shown strong performances. Nico remains part of the ABT family and is always welcome here."

Müller's decision does not really come as a surprise to outsiders: the Swiss driver is said to have already taken part in test drives with Porsche in the spring and was long rumoured to be the successor to Antonio Felix da Costa in the Porsche works team. As the Portuguese driver's wave of success in recent weeks - he has won four of the last five Formula E races and is now in fourth place in the overall standings - has made a strong case for another season with the works team, it is assumed that Müller will join Porsche's customer team Andretti for one season. After one season, the switch to the Porsche works team is expected to follow. This is reported by The Race.
