Formula E qualifying in Monaco: Dan Ticktum secured the second pole position of his Formula E career

On a sunny 18-degree day in the Principality of Monaco, Briton Dan Ticktum secured pole position for Saturday's race in the Cupra Kiro. Nyck de Vries and Maximilian Günther will start behind him. Pascal Wehrlein and Nico Müller in the Porsches will start the race from 5th and 6th place, while Maloney and Mortara did not set any lap times.
Group A: Wehrlein secured top position in Group A
The first group of qualifying saw two Porsche drivers, Pascal Wehrlein and Nico Müller, and two DS Penske drivers, Max Günther and Taylor Barnard, take to the track. They were joined in Group A by Edoardo Mortara, Jake Dennis, Sebastien Buemi, Dan Ticktum and Jean-Eric Vergne, who were also in contention for a place in the duel phase. Zane Maloney was unable to take part in qualifying after his contact in the 2nd free practice session, which damaged his car one hour before the start of qualifying. Mortara was also unable to set a lap time in the group. The Swiss driver sat in his car in the garage for a long time and got out of the car completely after a while.
Müller led the field shortly before the end of the group phase with a time of 1:28.886 minutes, followed by team-mate Wehrlein and Ticktum in third place and Vergne in fourth. In the end, however, the German Wehrlein was able to improve his time once again and took the lead of the field with a lap time of 1:28.832 minutes. Günther in the DS Penske also improved to second place. Müller in third place and Ticktum in fourth place also continued in qualifying.
For Vergne, Barnard, Dennis, Buemi, Mortara and Maloney, qualifying ended in the group stage.
Group B: Evans takes the lead of the group on the last lap
Group B saw the two Jaguar drivers Mitch Evans and Antonio Felix da Costa, reigning world champion Oliver Rowland and Nick Cassidy line up. Pepe Marti, Joel Eriksson, Nyck de Vries, Norman Nato, and the two Brazilians Felipe Drugovich and Lucas di Grassi also tried to secure a place in the duels.
The first faster times came after 7 minutes of driving. De Vries led the field with a lap time of 1:28.799 minutes, followed by Eriksson and the two Jaguar drivers Evans and Felix da Costa. In the end, Evans was able to improve his lap time further and took the lead from de Vries.
Thus Evans, de Vries, Felix da Costa and Eriksson secured their tickets for the duels. Drugovich, Rowland, Nato, Marti, Cassidy and di Grassi did not progress further in qualifying.
Quarter finals
QF1: Nico Müller vs Maximilian Günther
Günther started slower than Müller in the first sector, but caught up in the second and third and was thus able to extend his lead further and further. He completed the lap around the Circuit de Monaco 0.188 seconds faster than his competitor in the Porsche.
QF2: Dan Ticktum vs. Pascal Wehrlein
Ticktum had a good start to the lap and extended his lead over the course of the race. The Cupra Kiro driver completed the lap 0.255 seconds faster and was therefore through to the semi-finals.
QF3: Antonio Felix da Costa vs. Nyck de Vries
Felix da Costa started the decisive lap with a mistake in turn 4, which de Vries benefited. from The Dutchman in the Mahindra completed the lap 1.023 seconds faster than Felix da Costa in the Jaguar and was therefore safely through to the semi-finals.
QF4: Joel Eriksson vs Mitch Evans
A first: there had never been a duel between Eriksson and Evans before. Evans dominated the lap and was able to secure his place in the semi-finals the better times in sectors 1 and 2. He completed the lap 0.207 seconds faster than Eriksson in the Envision. This secured him a ticket to the semi-finals.
Semi-final
SF1: Maximilian Günther vs. Dan Ticktum
Ticktum started the lap faster than the German in the DS Penske and was faster right till the end. In the end, Ticktum secured his progression with a lead of 0.154 seconds.

SF2: Mitch Evans vs Nyck de Vries
The Mahindra driver de Vries put in a convincing lap in the semi-final and thus secured his place in the final with a lead of 0.258 seconds.
Final: Dan Ticktum vs. Nyck de Vries
Dan Ticktum drove a dominant lap and secured pole. The Brit set the fastest time in sectors 1 and 3, with the Dutchman only trying to catch up in the second sector but without success. This is the second pole position for Ticktum after London last season.
The top 10 for the first race in Monaco are thus Ticktum, de Vries, Günther, Evans, Wehrlein, Müller, Eriksson, Felix da Costa, Vergne and Drugovich.
