Formula E is continuing its global growth trajectory. According to the latest data analyses by Kantar Media and Emplifi, the electric racing series recorded growth in viewership and interaction in the first half of season 11. By the end of the season, it is heading for a cumulative total audience of more than 500 million.
The race in Mexico City is particularly noteworthy, setting a new record with 44 million TV viewers worldwide. In the USA, the CBS broadcast of this race reached 11 million viewers - a new record for Formula E. The double header in Jeddah was reportedly the most successful race weekend of the series to date with 65 million viewers.
Social media showed similarly strong growth: +13% in video views, +12% in interactions and +10% in followers compared to the previous year.
Dodds: "Investments & long-term presence pay off"
"The latest figures from our external providers are truly phenomenal and show the tremendous momentum behind the growth of our sport," says Jeff Dodds, CEO of Formula E. The series produces "some of the best most-competitive racing that old and new fans can’t get enough of."
"We're building fan bases and fan loyalty in key and new markets, with Mexico and the US examples of where our investment and longevity in the market is paying dividends," says Dodds. "As the world's fastest growing motorsport though, we know we can't stand still."
