Fortescue Zero Racing unveiled its Formula E car for the 2026/27 season on Friday evening. At an event attended by prominent guests such as Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds and former Williams Formula 1 team principal Claire Williams, the new Australian racing team unveiled its design for the upcoming Gen4 era. The highlight of the event was the team’s new and first livery, which was unveiled towards the end: deep black and neon green, linked with the company’s work – zero-emission mining in Australia.
Embossed relief as a central design element
Anyone who was concerned that there might be a risk of confusing the similarly green Envision Paysafe Racing and Fortescue Zero Racing liveries in the coming season can breathe a sigh of relief: The Australian team has based its colour scheme on a deep black, which differs significantly from Envision’s design, which features white elements. Green is used as an accent colour, although its prominence almost exceeds that of a mere accent.
Details on the sidepods, front wing, wing mirrors, underbody and even the driver numbers are rendered in solid green. Furthermore, the Fortescue Zero logo occupies a significant amount of space across the entire car. Apart from Formula E, no other sponsors can be found on the car as of yet. By far the most interesting feature is a three-dimensional relief map of Australia, which covers the centre of the car like a spider’s web. This genuine relief map shows the region around the "Eliwana Mine", Fortescue’s most important mining site in Australia. The exact location of the "Eliwana Mine" is also marked.

Ticktum is brimming with motivation, Barnard is absent
Several key figures from the new Formula E project took to the stage at the presentation: these included team principal Jim Wright and driver Dan Ticktum. Former Williams Formula 1 team principal Claire Williams also appeared as an ambassador. However, Taylor Barnard – who had already been confirmed as a driver – was absent and is no longer listed as a driver on the official Fortescue Zero website. After contractual issues it therefore remains to be seen whether the Briton will compete for the Australian team in the coming season.
Ticktum, on the other hand, is looking forward to Formula E Season 13 with confidence and particularly praises Jaguar’s commitment as a manufacturer: "We’ve had tremendous support from Jaguar, which will help us a great deal, and many of the people we have on board come from the former DS Penske team. We’ll be hitting the ground running straight away."
Starting 16 November, Fortescue Zero will take part in the Formula E test sessions in Madrid. It remains to be seen who will be joining Dan Ticktum behind the wheel for the team, but the technical foundation looks promising.
