Jake Dennis & Felipe Drugovich celebrate an Andretti one-two in Sanya: "It just all came together!"

Andretti capped off a perfect race weekend at the Sanya E-Prix: following a dominant performance in qualifying, Jake Dennis and Felipe Drugovich secured a commanding one-two finish for the US team in the race. It was Andretti’s first one-two in Formula E history.
Jake Dennis started the race from pole position and held his own at the front of the field on the tight Sanya street circuit. His team-mate Felipe Drugovich started right alongside him from second on the grid and kept pace throughout the race.
In a race marked by numerous incidents and collisions, both Andretti drivers stayed clear of any trouble and controlled the action at the front. By activating Attack Mode late in the race, they pushed their way back to the front and, finishing first and second, secured Andretti’s first one-two in Formula E.
Dennis: "We were quick in the right places"
"There was a lot going on! It wasn’t an easy race, with plenty of overtaking, but we gave it our all and everything just fell into place. We were quick in the right places and saved energy at the right time," explained Dennis after the race.
For the Briton, it was also the eighth race win of his career in the FIA Formula E World Championship. "It's so hard to win in Formula E and I feel uneasy when I'm in a position to win, because I never know if it’ll work out."
Drugovich: "We're where we want to be"
For Drugovich, this was already his second podium finish in a row and thus an important step towards putting the difficult start to the season behind him. "I didn't have a good start to the season, but now everything is getting better and we're where we want to be. We had a good race and a great day in qualifying."
Looking ahead to the next race weekend in Shanghai, the Brazilian was cautiously optimistic: "I've no idea how it'll go in Shanghai. We've got the same expectations as in the last few races. Last year was bad, so it can only get better. We're hoping, of course, that things will go as well as they did here in Sanya."
The next stop on the Formula E World Championship calendar is the Shanghai International Circuit. The two races there will take place on 4 and 5 July.
