Jake Dennis wins - at least according to marks! The e-Formula.news driver rating for the 2025 Jakarta E-Prix

Tim Neuhaus

For the first time since the Miami E-Prix, Formula E once again staged a single-header. The Indonesian capital Jakarta played host last weekend. The slippery conditions off the racing line and a few heated duels provided a spectacle. The actual dominator - Jake Dennis - was not rewarded in the end through no fault of his own, but the equally magnificent Dan Ticktum was instead!

After each round of the eleventh Formula E season, our editors award points on a scale between 1 and 10 for all drivers. They are then sorted according to their average "rating score". The rating is based exclusively on driving performance, not the potential of the car or external circumstances.

Jake Dennis | Andretti | 9.4

Jake Dennis was already extremely fast in the last two Jakarta races in season 9. He qualified in second place twice and also finished second in both races. Last weekend he was finally able to break this "curse" and put his car on pole position. Andretti has actually had considerable problems with qualifying this season, but Dennis proved once again that he can make the difference as a driver.

Dennis was also the man to beat for a long time in the race. He won the start phase and had a solid lead in the race. It was only when the battle with Nyck de Vries came to a head during the second Attack Mode activation that his race fell apart. He was not to blame for either the accident with de Vries or the software error in his full-course yellow limiter that followed a few laps later. Dennis lost many important points that he had actually earned.

Dan Ticktum | Cupra Kiro | 9.2

Dan Ticktum has finally done it - he's a Formula E race winner! Since the change from ERT to Cupra Kiro, the team has been working better and better together with Ticktum. In Jakarta, the necessary luck finally struck with the chaos surrounding Dennis and de Vries. Nevertheless, Ticktum's tremendous pace in qualifying and the race must be underlined. He kept a cool head right to the end: with Edoardo Mortara right at his back, he confidently held on to the lead.

Edoardo Mortara | Mahindra Racing | 8.6

Edoardo Mortara can be described in very similar terms to Ticktum. He drove a solid qualifying and had very good pace in the race, even though his team-mate de Vries seemed to be the slightly faster driver. In contrast to the Dutchman, Mortara did not make any mistakes. Thanks to the Swiss, Mahindra was able to implement the team game against Dennis perfectly and actually put de Vries in a position to win the race. Even more than second place was possible for Mahindra this weekend, but it was definitely not down to Mortara that it didn't work out.

Flop of the E-Prix: David Beckmann | Cupra Kiro | 3.2

Like Norman Nato, David Beckmann is slowly running out of steam. He is the weakest driver this season in terms of race results, and his qualifying pace is also a long way off that of team-mate Ticktum. In Jakarta, he also made unnecessary mistakes. During the safety car, he failed to observe the distance rules from the car in front and was penalised. He also received a reprimand for a late lane change in the braking zone against Robin Frijns. Beckmann is currently too slow and also quite inconspicuous off the track - a combination that does not really fit in with the current change at Cupra Kiro.
