Lucas di Grassi finished second in the chaotic Formula E race in Miami after penalties for several drivers, giving his Lola Yamaha ABT team an unexpected podium and their first points of the season. His second place was his first podium in more than two years and the first for Lola and Yamaha since Formula E's entry in Season 11, and Di Grassi said it was a massive boost for his team going into the next races.

The Brazilian was already in a surprisingly good position in qualifying with seventh place. He also did well in the race and, with the right strategy and timing, ultimately took second place and thus the first points for Lola Yamaha Abt: "That was an amazing day! We started the day with a good qualifying and P7. That was the best of the year", he commented on the qualifying result.

"I didn't have to fight"

On the race, the 40-year-old said: "It was a combination of a very good strategy and being in the right place at the right time. When the safety car came, we had enough time to end the attack mode before the end of the race. I didn't have to fight the people around me. This is my first podium in two years."

"I am very very pleased for myself but also for my team," continued di Grassi. "They worked so hard during the break. They really deserve this. It's going to be a massive boost for us for the rest of the season", the Brazilian is sure.

With di Grassi's second place, Lola Yamaha Abt not only collected their first points of the season. With 18 points, they also managed to leave Envision and Cupra Kiro behind in the teams' standings and are now in ninth place after five races. Di Grassi and Lola Yamaha ABT will have their next chance to score points in three weeks' time when Formula E holds its next double header in Monaco.
