Miami instead of Portland, Monaco twice: Formula E announces 2024/25 calendar with 17 races

Formula E announced the race calendar for the upcoming 2024/25 season on Tuesday - the biggest in its history to date. In season 11, 17 races will be held for the first time. The cities of Jakarta and Miami are back on the race calendar, while the two E-Prix in Monaco and Tokyo will be held as a "double-header" for the first time. The season finale will once again take place in London.

The announcement by Formula E follows the decision by the FIA World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) to approve the race calendar for 2025 in the proposed form. With 17 races in eleven cities, it is the most extensive calendar in the history of the electric series. The previous record was 16 races.

For the first time since 2019, the season opener will take place before the end of the year: The Sao Paulo E-Prix, which will kick off the season for the first time, is scheduled for 7 December 2024. This will be followed by the "familiar" stops in Mexico City and Diriyah. However, a new track is to be used in Saudi Arabia.

On 8 March 2025, a race without a venue is currently still on the race calendar. According to rumours, this could take place in the northern Thai city of Chiang Mai. Official confirmation is not expected until the autumn.

Miami comeback, two races in Monaco for the first time

On 12 April, Formula E will race in Miami for the first time in ten years: however, unlike in 2015 or in Formula 1, the circuit will not be a street circuit; instead, the racing series is planning to switch to the Homestead-Miami Speedway in the south of the city. After two years, the racing series is thus leaving Portland, where the Portland E-Prix is due to take place in just over two weeks (for the last time).

The first European race is then scheduled for May: a double-header will be held in Monaco for the first time in Formula E history before the series travels to Tokyo, where two races will also be held two weeks later. The next stop is Shanghai, another double-header, before the Asian leg concludes on 21 June with the return of the Jakarta E-Prix to the calendar.

This is followed by the obligatory Berlin E-Prix, which will also be held in the eleventh year of the championship. As in previous years, two races will once again be held in Berlin. However, the date in July is new, before the season finale takes place in London on 26 and 27 July 2025.

Somewhat surprisingly, Italy is no longer on the 2024/25 racing calendar: Following the cancellation of the 2023 Rome E-Prix due to the circuit, Formula E held two races in Misano Adriatico for the first time this year. However, this solution does not seem to have made a lasting impression on the organisers.
