Mitch Evans topped the podium for the 15th time in Miami, making history in Formula E. The New Zealander is the first driver ever to celebrate 15 victories in the FIA Formula E World Championship - a new record in the series.
The third race of the twelfth Formula E season focussed on one thing in particular: the right strategy. Jaguar and Evans in particular had already decided on the right approach before the start. The race was held as a rain race in the hope that the track would dry out towards the end. As a result, many teams adjusted their tyre pressures shortly before the start - but not Jaguar. A decision that was to pay off.
The rain lasted for the entire race distance and played into Evans' hands. "The start of the season was quite tough for us. We had no pace, especially in the dry. The rain saved me", explained Evans after the race.
With his 15th win, the New Zealander reaches another milestone, but remains ambitious: "It's special to have this record for the most wins. I'm still missing the big one - the championship - but these stats are great. It's a huge testament to the team. Hopefully this is a good restart to our season and we can continue from 15 wins."
Evans looks positively to the future
The triumph at the Miami E-Prix 2026 could be a turning point in the season for Evans. Team-mate Antonio Felix da Costa also put in a strong performance, but lost his chances of a podium finish due to an accident with Felipe Drugovich that was not his fault.
"I don't know what they did in the team - probably the opposite of what works in the dry. But it paid off. Full credit to the team. They put a rocket in front of me," said Evans with a twinkle in his eye.
He did not want to reveal how the 31-year-old will celebrate his record-breaking victory. However, Evans does not rule out the possibility that the celebrations could be a bit boozy. How the season continues for him and Jaguar will be revealed on 13 and 14 February. Formula E then travels to the first double-header of the season in Jeddah.
