Nissan will be competing in a special livery at the Formula E season finale in London next weekend. As the team announced on Tuesday morning, the cars of world champion Oliver Rowland and returnee Norman Nato will be turquoise for the last two races of the season. With this, the Japanese manufacturer wants to draw attention to the global market launch of its new all-electric Leaf model.

The Nissan Leaf is now in its third generation and is based on data and experience gathered since the launch of the first model in 2010. At the time, the Leaf was the world's first series-produced electric car with zero emissions. Over the past 15 years, Nissan has sold almost 700,000 vehicles. To celebrate the launch of the British-built car, the Formula E team unveiled a special blue-green version of its cherry blossom livery ahead of the London E-Prix.

After Oliver Rowland's title win in the drivers' championship in Berlin, there is still a lot at stake for Nissan: both the teams' and manufacturers' championships are still within realistic reach. However, Nissan is behind Porsche in both rankings and will need a strong weekend to beat the Germans. "It will not be easy to close the gaps, but I have full confidence in our engineers and drivers," says team principal Tommaso Volpe. "We are ready to give everything to get to the top."
