After months of rumours about a restructuring of the Stellantis Group's brands in Formula E and the name Citroen was repeatedly mentioned in this context, it is now official: The French brand will officially enter Formula E as early as next season. Citroen made the announcement in a press release on Friday morning.

"Citroen is proud to announce its official commitment to the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship starting coming season. An electric, innovative and passionate adventure that embodies our values and our vision for the mobility of tomorrow," says the official press release.

And further: "Continuing to thrill the hearts of motor racing enthusiasts. Citroën is officially returning to motor racing as a factory team, a field that has shaped its history and legend. Sharing values by reconnecting with motorsport in its most visionary form: a 100% electric, responsible and committed competition."

"Popular races in city centres that appeal to a young, committed and connected audience. A technological inspiration and international showcase for the future of mobility," concludes the announcement. In posts shared by Citroen on social media, the "Citroen Racing Formula E Team" is mentioned.

However, Citroen announced more detailed information on its Formula E entry for 20 October 2025. One week later, the Formula E pre-season tests will begin in Valencia.
