The third race of the 12th season of Formula E takes place this weekend at the Miami International Autodrome around the Hard Rock Stadium . Find out what else is keeping the paddock busy at the circuit in Miami in the latest edition of our "Paddock Whispers" series. We will update this ticker regularly throughout the weekend.

>>> Formula E collaborated with SunGod

[01/31 | 19:32 pm] Formula E has announced its collaboration with sunglasses manufacturer SunGod. The result of this collaboration is a special edition pair of sunglasses, which are currently only available for purchase at the fan shops at the race track. The official launch date at the Formula E Store will be in early February. The contact between Formula E and SunGod came about through the B Corp certification both companies share.

[01/31 | 14:55 pm] The Andretti Formula E garage has a special guest this weekend: Australian racing driver Will Power, who has enjoyed many years of success in IndyCar in the USA and is now joining Andretti in IndyCar.

Power is fascinated by the electric racing cars: "It's nice to be able to have a conversation. There's no noise, so it's really cool. The technology on these cars blows my mind. You know, all the stuff that's going on while the driver's driving around with the software. Yeah, very nice. First thing I asked was: When can I drive one. I'm like, I don't know what it feels like. >>> Maya Weug presents the car she will be driving

[01/31 | 12:55 pm] Dutch driver Maya Weug had announced that she wil be driving a Formula E car at the Miami E-Prix. She has now posted a photo of the car on her Instagram account. It will be the Formula E demo car. The test is scheduled for 8:25 am local time.

[01/31 | 12:35 pm] Brand Spiders GmbH, a Munich-based brand agency with its own film production company, has announced the continuation and expansion of its collaboration with German-language broadcaster DF1. Brand Spiders is responsible for the editorial concept of reporting for Germany, Austria and Switzerland and provides the creative and journalistic teams. There will be a greater focus on presence at the race tracks.

As in the past two years, Thomas Arnold, presenter and managing director of Brand Spiders GmbH, will be regularly on site at the race tracks to provide exclusive impressions from the paddock. In addition to Christian Glück, who was already on duty at the first two races of the season, Tobi Schimon is joining the commentary team. Schimon has previously worked as a commentator for the electric racing series and is making his comeback in Miami. Both commentators will take turns throughout the rest of the season.

There is also good news for Formula E fans in Austria: Krone TV will now broadcast the electric racing series in the Alpine republic.

[01/30 | 10:10 pm] Formula E and Google Cloud have announced a multi-year partnership. The mission of the collaboration is to demonstrate the potential of technology to have a positive impact on all areas of Formula E's business, from race operations and development to the fan experience. This multi-year agreement builds on the official partnership that was first formalised in January 2025.

Tara Brady, President of Google Cloud EMEA, said: "Formula E is a hub of innovation, where milliseconds can define success. This expanded partnership is a testament to the power of Google Cloud’s AI and data analytics, showing how our technology can deliver a competitive advantage in the most demanding scenarios."

>>> Vandoorne to remain Aston Martin F1 simulator, test and reserve driver

[01/30 | 9:50 pm] Belgian racing driver Stoffel Vandoorne, current reserve driver for Jaguar in Formula E and champion of the eighth Formula E season, will continue his collaboration with Aston Martin F1 in 2026. This was announced by his employer Aston Martin on social media.

Vandoorne will retain his role as simulator, test and reserve driver in Formula 1 in 2026.

>>> Cassidy in Miami with a shaved head

[01/30 | 3:22 pm] Before the last Formula E race in Mexico City, Citroen driver Nick Cassidy made a bet with his team-mate Jean-Eric Vergne that he would have his hair shaved off if he won the race. This came true, so it was now the New Zealander's turn to honour his bet. The moment when Vergne shaved off Cassidy's hair with the electric razor was captured by their Citroen team.

[01/30 | 2:51 pm] As reported by the FE Notebook, the French-based teams Citroen, DS Penske and Nissan had to deal with a flight cancellation when travelling to Miami. This led to considerable delays in the preparations for the race weekend. Due to the exceptional situation, the teams were granted an extension of the closing time on the set-up day to prepare the garages.

[01/30 | 2:07 pm] Benefit Corporation, or B Corp for short, is an international certificate awarded by the non-profit organisation B Lab to companies for their social and environmental impact. Formula E has now been honoured with this award, as the electric world championship announced. The high social and environmental standards at the racing events, meaningful contributions to local communities, best-practice strategies for employee well-being and the company's commitment to transparency and accountability were decisive for the B Corp certification.

Julia Palle, Vice President of Sustainability at Formula E, commented in a statement: "The B Corp certification is a powerful recognition that electric racing can do more than inspire - it can create real, measurable change. By joining the B Corp community, we will collaborate, challenge each other and deepen our impact in the sport and industry."

Throughout the season, fans can look forward to seeing him interact with teams and drivers as he champions sustainable programmes and shares his enthusiasm for Formula E with audiences around the world.

>>> Maya Weug drives Formula E in Miami

[01/30 | 1:38 pm] Dutch racing driver Maya Weug announced on Instagram that she will be driving one of the Formula E electric race cars during the Formula E race weekend in Miami. Weug most recently drove for Ferrari in the F1 Academy and secured the runner-up title.

In her Instagram story, the racing driver commented as follows: "This weekend will be my first time driving a Formula E car, so I'm really excited to get back in the cockpit. Many thanks to Formula E for this opportunity. I can't wait to get on the track" We reckon she'll get to drive the official Formula E demo car for a few laps.

>>> Aidan Gallagher visits Envision Racing in Miami

[01/30 | 1:25 pm] There will be a special guest in the Envision Racing garage this weekend: US actor and musician Aidan Gallagher. Gallagher has been committed to environmental and climate protection issues for many years. [01/30 | 1:12 pm] To mark the start of the 2026 Formula E race weekend in Miami, ABB, title partner of Formula E, illuminated the Miami Tower with the electric Formula E racing car. Sprinter legend Usain Bolt was also on site. He sat behind the wheel of the racing car there. A light show on the Miami Tower in the heart of the city skyline accompanied the spectacle and inspired the theme of electrification and automation on and off the race track.
