Pascal Wehrlein wins 2nd Formula E title: "That was the most unfair thing I've ever experienced!"

Pascal Wehrlein is Formula E World Champion for the second time. In a controversial season finale in London, a point-less race was enough for the Porsche driver to keep Jake Dennis and Mitch Evans behind him in the standings. Before securing the title, however, Wehrlein had to overcome blocking, intense battles for position and a collision. After the race, the new World Champion had particularly strong words for Antonio Felix da Costa's driving: "That was the most unfair thing I've ever experienced!"

After his victory on Saturday, Wehrlein headed into the final race of the Gen3 era as the clear title favourite. Mitch Evans had only an outside chance following his setback in the first London race, but put himself back into contention with a strong qualifying performance. The Jaguar driver started fifth, once again directly behind Nico Müller.

Müller had already played an important role in the championship battle on Saturday. On Sunday, his task was once again to keep Evans behind for as long as possible. But as the tactical games unfolded at the front, first Müller and then Wehrlein began to drop further down the order.

Felix da Costa pushes Wehrlein out of the points

Antonio Felix da Costa became a decisive factor. The Portuguese driver dramatically slowed the field at times and consistently blocked Wehrlein's attempts to pass. As a result, the German dropped out of the top 10 and therefore out of the points.

With Attack Mode activated, Wehrlein then began his fightback. He passed Felix da Costa and closed in on Dennis. In the congested midfield, however, Wehrlein eventually collided with Joel Eriksson. Dennis was also caught up in the incident and lost his final chance of scoring points. In the end, both Wehrlein and Dennis finished outside the points.

Wehrlein's championship hopes suddenly depended entirely on Evans' result. The Jaguar driver could only finish fourth, however – not enough to overcome his deficit in the standings. Despite scoring no points in the finale, Wehrlein was therefore confirmed as the 2025/26 Formula E World Champion. His joy of winning the title did not completely overshadow his frustration with Felix da Costa's driving.

"That was the most unfair thing I've ever experienced," says Wehrlein immediately after the race, referring to the actions of his former team-mate. "It was a little unpredictable what Antonio was doing and how far he was willing to go with it. Many thanks to him for what he did in this race. Under normal circumstances, we could have had a good race and probably another podium. Nevertheless, we achieved what we needed to achieve and did everything we needed to do."

Wehrlein: "When it matters, we are very good"

Despite the chaotic finale, the overriding emotion for Wehrlein was ultimately the joy of securing his second Drivers' title.

"I have to say that the first title is always a little more exciting," says the new World Champion. "But under today's circumstances, this title feels very special. It was definitely a tough race. I never expected what eventually happened to happen. It is what it is. In the end, we did it."

For Wehrlein, however, the championship was the result of an entire season. "We laid the foundations for this over the last 16 races. The whole season was full of ups and downs," he explains. "When the pressure is on and it matters, we are very good."

Wehrlein therefore ends Formula E's Gen3 era as World Champion. Two years after securing his first title in Season 10, the Porsche driver claimed his second Drivers' World Championship in London.
