Formula E fans will once again have to wait a long time for the next race of the 2024/25 season: A whole 56 days will have passed by the start of the Miami E-Prix after Formula E last contested a race. In other racing series, this may be an exception within a season - in Formula E, it is already the 20th time that no race has been held for at least 30 days in a current season.

After the cancellation of a race scheduled for 8 March in Chiang Mai, Thailand, there is a gap of eight weeks between the races in Jeddah and Miami. However, this is not yet a record - in the past, Formula E has had several periods without a race that were at least as long. In this photo gallery, you can find out which races in the past fans had to wait a particularly long time for the next E-Prix.

5th place: Mexiko City & Rome 2022 (56 days)

Just like this year, the 2022 season was interrupted for exactly eight weeks. Two originally planned races in Cape Town and China had to be canceled for various reasons, and Formula E was unable to find replacement venues back then - just like today.

Rome was a one-off event that kicked off the then somewhat larger European section of the racing calendar. At least the fans didn't have to wait long for the next race after a 56-day break: the Rome E-Prix was a double header.

4th place: Buenos Aires & Miami 2015 (63 days)

Formula E already had to contend with very similar problems in its debut season ten years ago. A race originally announced for November 2014 in Rio de Janeiro could not be held, and an alternative date in February had to be canceled later. After the race in Buenos Aires, racing was suspended for a whole nine weeks.

Then, as now, Formula E continued in Miami - but ten years ago in March instead of April. However, as the race in Argentina's capital was held on January 10, a whole nine weeks passed before the first Formula E race in the USA.

3rd place: Beijing & Putrajaya 2014 (70 days)

After its very first race in Beijing, Formula E took an even longer break. No less than ten weeks passed after the debut race of the electric series in China before the next race was held.

The Putrajaya E-Prix, originally scheduled for October 18, was postponed to November 22 at the request of Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak so that he could be present at the second Formula E race in history.

2nd place: Marrakesh 2016 & Buenos Aires 2017 (98 days)

There was a break of more than three months in the 2016-17 season, although the FIA even rejected the planned race calendar in June 2016 due to the long breaks. A unique occurrence in the history of the racing series. However, after the cancellation of three planned races, including one in Brussels, the FIA had no choice but to approve the calendar - with a gap of a whole 14 weeks.

Formula E made a virtue of necessity and added a sim racing event before the Buenos Aires E-Prix: During the long break, the Visa Vegas eRace enticed participants with a prize pot of one million US dollars. In a race characterized by technical difficulties, Dutch professional simracer Bono Huis won.

1st place: Marrakesh & Berlin 2020 (158 days)

First place in our ranking goes to the 2020 season: the rampant Covid-19 pandemic paralyzed racing operations - just like many other areas of public life - for more than five months. In Marrakesh, the racing series completed the rookie test after the race, but the races planned for the following weeks in Sanya, Rome and Paris did not take place. Instead, it held a sim racing tournament for the Formula E regular drivers called Race at Home Challenge.

To bring the season to a close after five races, Formula E pulled off a unique feat: At the former Berlin-Tempelhof airport, it held six races on three different track layouts within just nine days. Thanks to good planning and extremely intensive cooperation with those responsible in the German capital, the season was brought to a successful conclusion.
