Porsche brought the 2024-25 Formula E World Championship to a positive conclusion in London: The works team secured the title in the Teams' World Championship, and the car manufacturer also emerged victorious in the new Manufacturers' World Championship with the help of its two customer teams Andretti and Cupra Kiro. Pascal Wehrlein was correspondingly happy after the season finale.
Team World Champion in the 2024-25 season - Porsche finally secured the title in its sixth Formula E season in a classification in which it had previously come away empty-handed despite winning two drivers' world championships in a row.
With sixth place for Antonio Felix da Costa and eighth place for team-mate Pascal Wehrlein, Porsche even extended its lead in the team standings. The team also finished well ahead in the manufacturers' standings - although Wehrlein can certainly be described as one of the unlucky drivers of the race.
"The decisive factor was that our entire second attack mode was interrupted by the safety car again", Pascal Wehrlein describes when asked by e-Formula.news - the same thing had already happened to him the day before. "As a result, all the cars caught up from behind. Most of them still had an attack mode and yes, then it is simply difficult."
"You also have to say quite clearly that Jaguar was unrivalled this weekend with what they showed," he continues. "It was very impressive and we couldn't compete with them. But I think, like yesterday, third or fourth place would have been possible. You just don't get stuck in there"
Modlinger: "We can all be really proud"
"Firstly, it is a great achievement to bring home the first manufacturers' world championship title in Formula E and the team title for Porsche," says Florian Modlinger, Overall Project Manager Formula E at Porsche. "We can all be really proud of what we have achieved. It has been a long journey when you look at how we have developed over the last few years.
"When I look back, we finished seventh in season 8," he continues. "We were fourth in season 9 and second last season. Now we have won the title - it was hard work and a lot of effort. We are enjoying this moment and I am grateful to be part of this team.
Wehrlein: "A question of attitude and respect"
"The mindset this weekend was very simple", explains Wehrlein. "Although I virtually lost the drivers' championship at the last race weekend - or Rowland won it there - it was important for me not to come here unmotivated. I wanted to give the team the other two championships and contribute as much as I could.
"Yesterday was an extremely important day because we scored a lot of points, 16 points in total," Wehrlein continued. "Nissan could actually only win the title today with first and second place. For me, that is not a question at all. It is a question of attitude and respect that I come here and give everything for the team. Even if, of course, the personal goal of a driver is always the drivers' championship.
Despite this, Wehrlein is looking forward to a good party on Sunday evening: "The thing is: London is running out of beer tonight. My team really likes a good beer in the evening."
Porsche is the seventh team overall to win the Formula E team title. They are the first title winners in the manufacturers' world championship - this was only officially introduced by the FIA at the start of the season.
