Porsche was unable to reproduce the success of the previous day in Jeddah on Saturday. Pascal Wehrlein took home four meagre points in 8th place, while team-mate Nico Müller only finished 16th. After the race, the drivers spoke out and put the poor result down to bad decisions made by the team throughout the dayte.

The second race of the "Double-Header" in Jeddah was anything but optimal for Porsche. It was already clear in qualifying that the team was struggling. On Friday, Wehrlein still managed to reach the duel phase. Things looked completely different on Saturday. Both drivers only qualified in the midfield. While Wehrlein started the race from 11th place, Müller only put his car in 16th place.

At least the race went a little better for the German. He was able to work his way up to 8th place and so at least picked up four points. Müller, on the other hand, finished the race in the position in which he started. The team therefore finished Saturday with a manageable points haul.

Wehrlein: "We reacted a little too late"

"Today we found it a bit more difficult than yesterday," summarised the season 10 world champion in an interview with e-Formula.news. "We didn't have quite as good a balance, but we still had very good pace in the car. I think we reacted a little too late in the race today and took the Attack Modes too late. As a result, the field was already relatively far apart and we didn't get to the front so well."

"Today we could certainly have done a bit better here and there," he continues. "But that's Formula E: everything is very tight here and if everything doesn't fit one hundred per cent, then it's going to be difficult."

Müller: "We did a few things wrong in qualifying"

"We did a few things wrong in qualifying, which cost you dearly in the end when it's this close", commented Müller on his day when asked by e-Formula.news. "If the car is not quite in the window and the lap is not perfect, then you can quickly find yourself in the middle of the jungle."

"We tried to salvage something with the strategy, but we were too aggressive or too conservative - one or the other," adds the Swiss driver. "We waited too long back there and damaged the front wing, which just went badly. I misjudged by maybe five centimetres in the chaos and was pushed slightly from behind. Driving around for ten laps with a front wing dragging on the front wheel - there's not much you can do."

"We didn't really collide, it was actually just a very slight contact," he describes the situation. "There were three of us driving side by side, with Nato and Eriksson, I think. It was actually harmless. I was surprised that the wing was grinding afterwards. And two laps before the end, the plate finally fell off."

With 68 points, Wehrlein is still the leader in the drivers' standings, mainly thanks to his victory on Friday. He has a six-point lead over Edo Mortara. Müller is currently in sixth place with 45 points, while Porsche continues to set the tone in the Teams' World Championship with 113 points ahead of Jaguar, who are 27 points behind. Before more racing action resumes, Formula E will not be taking a break for just under five weeks. The sixth race of the season takes place on 21 March in Madrid.
