Formula E will continue to be broadcast live and exclusively on DF1 free-to-air TV in Germany in the final Gen3 season in 2025/26. According to information from e-Formula.news, the talks were successfully finalised at the weekend, just a few days before the start of the season. However, ServusTV and parent company Red Bull Media House, which were also partners of e-Formula.news last season and broadcast the electric racing series in Austria, are no longer on board.
Update from 2 December 2025, 10:30am: DF1 has now also officially confirmed exclusively to e-Formula.news that it will broadcast all races of the 2025/26 Formula E World Championship live.
There are only a few days left until the opening race of the 2025/26 Formula E World Championship, but fans in Germany have been waiting in vain for an official announcement from Formula E or DF1. After receiving an increasing number of enquiries from readers via all channels in recent days regarding TV coverage for the coming season, it is now official: DF1 will continue to broadcast Formula E in Germany.
The channel, which has been broadcasting Formula E since season 10, will also be showing all 17 races live this season. Qualifying will also be shown on free-to-air television, although it is not yet known whether this will be the case for all races. For the first time, DF1 will also be responsible for the entire production of the broadcast, which will be carried out in the channel's studio in Unterföhring. The live broadcast is also available online on the DF1 website.
"We are thrilled to retain the Formula E free-to-air TV rights for this season and are stepping up our motorsport coverage with live broadcasts – now also from our own DF1 studio in Unterföhring," explains David Müller, Managing Director of TV channel DF1. "As the exclusive TV partner of Formula E in Germany and with our live coverage of MotoGP, we believe we are ideally positioned for the 2026 racing season."
"We are eagerly awaiting the start of the season on 6 December in Brazil and would like to thank our partners for their trust," Müller continues. "We hope to once again deliver unforgettable racing moments to our viewers on DF1 – free of charge and across all distribution channels in the best HD standard."
ServusTV cancels Formula E broadcast in Austria
ServusTV, on the other hand, has cut the Formula E programme. According to reports from several Austrian media outlets, the Red Bull Group has imposed a strict savings programme. As a result, there were already extensive job cuts at Red Bull Media House in October, and the expiring contract for the Formula E broadcasting rights and the partnership with e-Formula.news were not extended either.
The extent to which commentator Daniel Goggi will be back on board at DF1 is more than questionable, however. The Italian is under contract with Red Bull Media House, where he works on the Formula 1 broadcasts, including next weekend. The Formula 1 season finale in Abu Dhabi will take place at the same time as the Formula E season opener in Sao Paulo. In addition to motorsport, he has also commented on football broadcasts on ServusTV in the past.
Despite repeated requests from e-Formula.news, Formula E has not yet commented, and official confirmation is still pending. However, this is expected by Wednesday at the latest. The same applies to additional streaming partners and the broadcasting situation in Austria.
Update from 3 December 2025, 4:30pm:
Formula E has announced that, in addition to DF1's TV and streaming coverage, the electric racing series' races in Germany will also be broadcast on sportbild.de. "Selected races" will also be shown on bild.de.
