Better late than never! Andretti driver Nico Müller secured the second podium of his Formula E career last Saturday in Jakarta with third place. In an interview with e-Formula.news after the race, he spoke about his regularly strong race pace and described the chaos in the race that catapulted him to the front. For the remaining races, he hopes to carry the momentum of his podium with him.

Nico Müller has already shown several times this season what he is capable of with the current package of his customer Porsche. Due to various circumstances, however, it was ultimately never enough for a podium finish. That changed last Saturday.

He started the race from 13th on the grid. "Qualifying was our Achilles heel, if you like. Today it felt like I had a car to get into the duels. But I made a small mistake in the dusty conditions and paid the price for it", says the Swiss.

"Only a matter of time before some people's patience snaps"

Despite his mediocre grid position, Müller was able to work his way into the top 10 early on in the race. "The race pace has always been there", he says confidently and continues: "We made it into the top 8 early in the race.We also had some luck with our strategy. But the execution was just right."

During the race, Müller was also able to capitalise on the chaos caused by a number of drivers retiring just a few minutes before the end. "At some point, the patience of certain people snaps. It is only a matter of time before that happens. You have to try and wait for your opportunity. Some drivers have eliminated themselves by making mistakes. Today we found the right compromise between taking risks and keeping a cool head."

In Berlin & London "a lot is possible"

Two "double-headers" in Berlin and London remain in the current season. For the four races, the 33-year-old Müller hopes that he can maintain the momentum after his podium. "A lot is possible. We made some good steps this weekend. We made a few changes and I felt a bit more comfortable in the car. Hopefully they will also work in Berlin and London. If we can start a little further in front, we can also make better use of our race pace."

The penultimate race weekend of the Formula E World Championship will take place on 12 and 13 July. The "double-header" will once again be held in Berlin-Tempelhof. The season finale will take place just two weeks later, once again in London. For Müller, there is nothing less at stake than staying with the Andretti team.
