Who will be Formula E World Champion 2024/25? The editors of e-Formula.news give their predictions
Tobias Wirtz
In just a few hours, the first three world championship points in the 2024/25 Formula E season will be awarded in qualifying for the Sao Paulo E-Prix. But who has what it takes to become Formula E world champion in season 11? The team at e-Formula.news has already identified its favourites in advance.
Tim Neuhaus: Mitch Evans is finally going to do it!
Predicting a world championship in motorsport is difficult, but in Formula E it's actually completely impossible! In recent years, however, there has always been one driver who has been right at the front, and that is Mitch Evans. It has not yet been enough for a perfect season, be it his own mistakes, a lack of pace at the wrong time or simply bad luck. With Jaguar, he will most probably have the best technology under him again this season. I think this year the New Zealander could finally succeed in clinching the drivers' title.
Theresa Schmid: Pascal Wehrlein defends his title
I believe that Porsche and Pascal Wehrlein will win the title again this season. The team put in a consistently strong performance last season. So far this year, it looks as if Porsche could continue to compete at the front. Wehrlein himself is one of the most consistent drivers in the field. It will certainly be a close race, but I think they can repeat the title win in the end.
Luca Storms: Oliver Rowland becomes Formula E World Champion
In my view, the Brit had a very strong season 2023/24 in the shadow of Wehrlein, Evans and Cassidy. With victories in the first race in Misano and the finale in London, he was able to prove his quality in important races. If he gets to grips with his problem, the results outside of the victories and podiums, and becomes more consistent there, he has a very good chance of emerging from this season as Formula E world champion. It remains to be seen how Nissan's package will perform on the track this season. However, some drivers, including Nick Cassidy, also see Nissan as the favourites this season.
Timo Pape: First drivers' title for a Jaguar driver at last
It is long overdue for Jaguar to clinch its first Formula E drivers' title. One of the most exciting questions of the season for me is which "Kiwi" will collect more points - Mitch Evans or Nick Cassidy. As in the two previous seasons, both are likely to score points on equal terms right to the end. Who will be ahead in the end? Cassidy is more likely to win, even if Evans might have deserved the title even more in his long Formula E career. However, I also reckon that Jake Dennis will make a comeback, provided Andretti finally gets his setup problems under control again.
Tobias Wirtz: Antonio Felix da Costa becomes the 2nd double champion
It was the big surprise in Season 6: Techeetah newcomer Antonio Felix da Costa dethroned his team-mate Jean-Eric Vergne as Formula E champion and secured the crown himself. Admittedly, the 2020 coronavirus season was very special with more than five months off racing and the six races in Berlin, but I trust DAC, as he likes to be called, to achieve this feat again in the upcoming season. After all, with four victories in the previous season, he was the driver with the most race wins - and that doesn't even include the unfortunate Misano Saturday, where he was disqualified due to an incorrect pedal spring. In the second half of the season in particular, he showed the impressive consistency that had already made him champion in 2020. That could be the basis for a very successful 2024/25 season!
