"Du geile Sau!" Nico Müller celebrates 1st Formula E victory at the Berlin E-Prix, Pascal Wehrlein in bad luck

In his 69th race, Nico Müller finally celebrated his first Formula E victory. The Swiss driver won Porsche's home race with a lead of almost five seconds after a tactical masterstroke. Team-mate Pascal Wehrlein, on the other hand, was left without points after a puncture and the season 10 champion also lost the lead in the drivers' standings.

After both Porsche drivers were initially at the front of the field, they dropped back into midfield after a few laps to save energy. Initially, the tactic looked promising, as both drivers built up a clear energy advantage over the drivers at the front. However, Wehrlein then suddenly lost a lot of ground and went into the pits for a pit boost. After recharging, the team changed the right front tyre, as the German had damaged it in a contact shortly beforehand.

Müller, on the other hand, waited longer with his pit boost stop so that he was in fourth place after the pit stop. He activated attack mode before his three opponents and passed them without any problems. He then utilised his energy advantage and pulled away to take an unchallenged victory in the end. "You horny bastard", he celebrated his first Formula E victory with his team after crossing the finish line.

Müller: "It couldn't be much better"

"It's an amazing day," Müller was overjoyed after the race. "I'm super grateful for the opportunity, Porsche are giving me that trust. It's an honour to be racing in that car in front of the home crowd, and then to get your first win right here in Berlin on the 75th anniversary of Porsche Motorsport, couldn't be much better."

"It's very well known that when you wear these colours, and you drive for Porsche in their works team, there is only one goal. We want to fight for those three Championships until the finale in London, and one of these is the Drivers' Championship."

Wehrlein: "We have shown that the pace is there"

"It was a very small contact with Dennis", Wehrlein says in an interview with e-Formula.news. "The valve on the rim broke as a result. I then lost all the air from the tyre within two corners. Unfortunately, the contact was in the penultimate corner and I only noticed the loss of air on the start-finish straight. So I had to drive a whole lap with the broken tyre and dropped back to the end of the field."

"You are not allowed to change the tyre during the Pit Boost, but only afterwards," he continues. "That was the end of the race for us. Nico and I were on the same strategy, apart from the fact that my race ended relatively early. But I think we showed that the pace is there. With a bit more racing luck, tomorrow should be a good day."

Dennis sees the situation as unfortunate. "We had a small contact on the exit of turn 9", said the Briton when asked by e-Formula.news. "I was just on the outside of him and then we're both running side by side. Then I'm up against the wall and there's contact. Then he picks up a puncture."

Tomorrow, Porsche will have another chance to fight for another victory, when the second round of the Berlin double-header will take place. The race starts at 4:05 pm (CEST).
