ABT denies Porsche Formula E comeback rumours: "There is no truth to it"

ABT Sportsline will not support Porsche in setting up its second Formula E works team. The German outfit has explicitly denied corresponding rumours when approached by e-Formula.news. ABT is currently neither holding talks nor planning to return to the electric racing series next season.

"There is no truth to the rumours," an ABT Sportsline spokesperson told e-Formula.news. "We have said goodbye to Formula E, and that will remain the case. You can never know whether that will be forever, but we currently have no talks and no intention of returning to the grid next year."

ABT will also not act as a service provider for Porsche or another Formula E team next season. The company is currently still in the process of winding down its previous Formula E involvement with Lola. From next season, Lola will take over the operational running of its Formula E team itself.

ABT to focus on GT3 & DTM

Instead, ABT intends to focus fully on GT3 racing next year. "We have unfinished business at the Nürburgring and want to be fighting at the front in the DTM again next year," the spokesperson added.

This also marks the end of Fred Espinos' time at ABT. The former Formula E team principal is spending his final working day with the German outfit on Thursday, as ABT confirmed to e-Formula.news.

ABT withdrew from Formula E after the 2025/26 season. Most recently, the team raced with the Lola Yamaha powertrain. However, ABT has now explicitly dismissed speculation about a potential collaboration with Porsche as part of the manufacturer's planned second works team for the Gen4 era.
