On March 11/12, 2023, Extreme E will start its third season with two rounds in Saudi Arabia. With CCR regular Timo Scheider, the RXR and ABT Cupra teams, and the racing driver Mattias Ekström, who is well-known in many places in Germany, there are some interesting aspects to the series for German motorsport fans. But on free TV, the championship can no longer be followed live in 2023.

.

As 'e-Formel.de' has learned, the station ProSieben Maxx, which in the last two seasons showed the races of the off-road category, will refrain from broadcasting the Extreme E in the future. "We will no longer broadcast the Extreme E," a spokesman for Seven. One Entertainment, a company in the broadcasting group around ProSieben, confirmed when asked. "ran, ProSieben Maxx and ProSieben are focusing their motorsport commitment on Formula E and the DTM."

Whether the switch is the result of ratings analysis or simply due to the expiration of TV rights is currently unknown to us. Extreme-E fans in Germany can watch the Desert X Prix (to-the-race-preview) in the English-language livestream instead. The series indicates on its website that interested parties will be able to watch the 2023 season opener on the Extreme E YouTube and Facebook channels. Eurosport and the pay-TV channel Sky Sport also hold rights to Extreme E in Germany. However, both recently showed only highlight clips of the events.

As the championship confirmed on Twitter on Thursday, the streaming provider DAZN will also broadcast the Extreme E Desert X Prix. It is the first time that DAZN will show a race of the championship. It is currently still uncertain whether the other rounds of the season will also be broadcast there in 2023.
