Due to Formula 2 clashes: Andretti presents Askew as 2nd reserve driver

Andretti has presented its former driver Oliver Askew as the second replacement driver. The US-American will already be on site for the team next week in Miami in his home state of Florida. The reason for the commitment is the fact that Jak Crawford, nominal reserve driver for Andretti, will be contesting the Formula 2 season full-time for DAMS. Due to scheduling conflicts between the two championships, Crawford will not be able to be on site for the Formula E races in Miami (clashes with Bahrain), Tokyo (Imola), Shanghai (Barcelona) and London (Spa-Francorchamps).
"I’m thrilled to reunite with this talented team," says Askew. "Especially since so many familiar faces from Season 8 are still onboard. I can’t wait to dive in and support the team in fine-tuning the car on the simulator as we push through the rest of the season together."
"While Jak remains our primary Reserve and Development Driver, due to overlapping calendars with Formula E and Formula 2, it’s an advantage for us to have the ability to bring in an Additional Reserve Driver – particularly someone of Oliver’s caliber – in such a demanding Championship", said Andretti team principal Roger Griffiths. "Oliver’s prior experience with our team and knowledgeable understanding of the series make him an excellent fit, and we’re confident he will provide valuable input behind the scenes."
Askew drove a total of 16 races for the then BMW customer team Andretti in the 2021/22 season. He finished the season in 16th place, with his best result being a fourth place in the first race in London.
