ABT Cupra will again compete in Extreme E in 2023 and presented its line-up for the third season on Friday. While the newly crowned Dakar Rally winner Nasser Al-Attiyah will remain with the team, Klara Andersson will permanently take over the cockpit from Jutta Kleinschmidt. The Swede had already deputized for her German colleague most recently. ABT also showed off its new livery, which is based on the Formula E design.

The signing of Andersson comes as no surprise at all. After a violent training accident of Kleinschmidt in Chile, the 22-year-old jumped in as a substitute driver at the last two rounds of the season. Together with Al-Attiyah, she took a podium and a victory at the season finale. Now she takes over a regular cockpit for the second time, as last season she was actually under contract with Xite Energy Racing. However, she missed the season opener after contracting a Covid 19 infection and was subsequently replaced.

"I'm happy about the trust from the team, from Cupra and from the whole team," Andersson said. "Nasser and I were already on the same wavelength during our first weekends and also had a lot of fun. It's nice that we now have the whole season ahead of us."

The first Extreme E race is scheduled for March 11 and 12. Before that, Andersson will take part in the Race of Champions in Sweden with the Odyssey 21 of Extreme E.
