Formula E in Berlin: The qualifying groups at a glance (Sunday)
Tobias Bluhm
After the wind shadow battle on Saturday, Sunday's race of the Berlin E-Prix 2023 is under different omens. Threats of rain could have a significant impact on the 350 kW laps in qualifying in particular. As usual, however, dthe Formula E drivers will first compete in a group phase (maximum power: 300 kW) before the top four in each group meet in the knockout format. The groups are set up according to the current intermediate world championship standings.
The drivers on the odd championship positions start in group A, the pilots on the odd ranks in group B. There they fight one after the other for the fastest lap times. The knockout phase then takes place "within" the groups. Thus, in the quarter-finals, the fastest will race against the fourth-fastest or the second-fastest against the third-fastest in the same group.
All changes to the 2023 season we have you summarized in a separate article. For the Berlin E-Prix on Sunday, the following groups emerge.
